Would it b safe???

Ive been 10 days almost 11 on one oxycodone 80 mg tab.  Would it be ok instead of taking that one pill to cut it in half that way my body gets used to a lower amount 40 mg instead of 80 mg all at once????? Woooow had to breathe!!! The reason im asking is im thinking about how hard the next step is gonna b which is nothing.  None!!! No pills but still not ready for that. Gotta take this easy!!! So if anyone knows or has done this, your response would b greatly appreciated!!!!!!

I cant tell you how a little green monster has devoured my every thought and without all your support would have devoured me!!! May you all succeed in your battles and continue to do so!!!
To yeslife4me i agree with your s/o it is a game played between your soul and mind. My almost 5 year addiction from 14,80 mg to 1,80 mg ive played that game many times!!!! Oxycodone, percs there all nasty buggers that consume your mind and soul!!!!

My S/O wasn't addicted but was dependent and when it came time to taper he did cut his in half as well.  In fact, he told me that it was a way of fooling himself into thinking he was taking one.

Throwing support your way. Congrats on wanting to get off these wicked pills. Don't have any words for you on splitting oxy's, but don't fear the w/d's. It's only a few days then you'll be free and can work on having the life you want. The fear of detox is way worse than the event and the benifits are life changing forever.

Thank u all for your fast responses!!! I know i should take the jump and dive into this!!! Im just scared to dive in to fast and relapse.  I dont wanna sound like im just making excuses but im still in shock that ive come this far 11 days.!!!! I just dont wanna ever go back to that " place"  !!!!   Thank u all for your amazing support!!!

If it's an 80mg pill than it must be timed release and you would not want to cut it in half as that could release all 40mg at once. You should talk to your Dr about tapering and meds to taper with.

If you think that the taper is better for you, then try it....you can always just jump after a day or so if you want....it will just prolong it IMO...but it's a personal decision....fear is a huge thing when we know we are taking that last pill...but try and think of it like this....it's your LAST pill....you NEVER have to take anymore!  you will finally be free!  just keep posting for support....we can help you thru it!

I have never tapered only gone cold turkey. I'm sure someone will chime in. Glad ur thinking about getting off of them at some point. Good luck!
