headaches a withdrawl symptom?

Hi all--well, I am on day 14 of NO hydrocodone.  Had taken probably 10 5mg pills in the month before that. On anywhere from 5mg ---40mg per day for over a year before that.  I have gone through what I THOUGHT was the worst of withdrawls with the achiness etc. Used the Thomas remedy and took lots of baths. The achiness has subsided. I thought I was done with withdrawl symptoms. But, I have had this headache pretty much for over a week---maybe longer. Is that a WD symptom? could it be continuing this long after not taking pills?
Appreciate any support and insight.
Thanks

DAY 21 no Hydrocodone!  That is the GOOD news (ok, I have to remember that is GREAT news).  I still am having headaches. And the "blues". No interest in doing much. The headaches are scaring me though. Been taking pretty much anything OTC but only relieves headaches for a couple hours. I am going to a primary care doc MONDAY. I am hoping I don't have something terrible wrong with my brain or something terminal. I know that sounds like an overreaction. I just want to read somewhere hat headaches are part of Hydro withdrawl. I have been using some sort of opiate for a few years now, so if headaches are the price to pay....I can handle that. It makes me stronger in my resolve to be done with this addiction forever. But, I am not seeing headaches as normal part of this withdrawl. I was taking 40mg day until maybe june or july. Then I went down quite a lot to the point o faking 5mg day and then took maybe 5 pills in the 3 weeks before. But totally drug free for 21 days now. So, I thought withdrawl would be over. It is a beautiful fall day and all I want to do is lay on the couch.  I appreciate people here and reading about your journeys. it helps. I wish you all well today.

I have been getting bad head aches too.  Since you've been taking ibprophen, Tylenol, excedrin then it could be a rebound head ache.

On day 10 from oxys; 40 mgs/day.   Oh yes, headaches are definitely part of the picture for me.  Make sure you get your blood pressure checked, because part of the reason mine were so bad was that my BP was high...so my doctor put me on Clonidine.   Still getting headaches...but less and less every day.

Hope this helps.

Brainchange - watch out for the codeine please. It will prolong your wd. Also it can become another addiction. Don't want to exchange one for another.

Yes headaches are a symptom. Try to stay really hydrated and make sure you eat. Lack of both can make it worse. Just hang in there. It'll go away.

Thanks so much IB. I have been taking ibuprophen, Anacin, Exedrin pretty much all day long for a few weeks. I guess for the overall aches---but I am sure I had the headache in there too. This past week ---I think I get relief from headache with these over the counter pills for maybe 2 hours.  I found some Tylenol with caffeine and codeine (8mg) I had from when I lived in Canada. It was OTC. Seems like that helped same as others but wondering if the codeine is a bad idea even at that small mg.  I am reading in forums but not seeing headaches as a WD symptom specifically. I actually hope it is. Otherwise, another worry!  Thanks so much. I know that this 2 weeks seems short. But actually it has been 2 months since I went off of the 30-40 mg hydro per day. I thought I'd be better by now. I think I underestimated the significance of how much and how long I was taking this crap.

Hi & Welcome,

Congrats on day 14. While that is a huge accomplishment it is relatively short in terms of withdrawal. Some people have symptoms for a week and some still have them after six months. It depends on the person. If I were you I would try Aleve or Motrin. If that doesn't help you may want to see your doctor and get a good check-up. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
