How are the withdrawals from vicodin

Hey everyone thanks for taking the time to read this. I have taken 4-7 vicodin a day for the past 4 years and not because I was in pain. I started taking them in 2004 for a broken wrist. I started going through a difficult time and started leaning on them because it helped my anxiety. I have started having really bad mood swings and just really think the drugs are starting to change me. I want to get off of them, but I don't want to go to a treatment center. I want to do this on my own if it's possible. I took about 3 a day the past week and ran out yesterday morning. I do not want to get anymore.

What I'm asking is I feel really flu like today and restless. Are withdrawals from the amount I was taking bad or is the way I feel all in my head, and I'm giving myself withdrawals?

I think I can do this, I'm just worried about my psych. I have already looked through everything I own to see if maybe I missed one. I'm refusing to call anyone that may be able to get some. I'm a little worried my mind might prevent me from getting through this. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas of what the withdrawals might be and how long?

Thank you

Good advise so far. Hydrocodne withdralws are a drag and can cause depression, insomnia, chlls and more, but they don't last long and As bad as you may feel they are a few steps down for the level of withdrals you will feel from Heroin, methadone sub and I.V diadudid and high dose oxy. you can do it if you really want  to.

yeah the sleeping thing seems to be the most annoying thing . Try and force yourself to take some short walks..it will help. I don't know if your legs are bothering you but hot baths help alot too. You are way better off just continuing with what your doing..it will get better soon. It's great that you have the weekend to get through hopefully the worst of it..you will proabably have very low energy for a little bit and that is normal..just force those walks..it will increase your bodies natural chemicals..keep posting...we are here for you and if you want to talk..please feel free to send me a pm..I am usually on here at some point in the day or night..take care,,and hang in there..

Thank you for that information. I thought I would be ok because I didn't take a lot daily, so I didn't wean myself. I don't want to get some just for that reason, so I guess it's cold turkey.  I couldn't make it to work today and I have all weekend. I hope that's enough time.  You are right I can't fall asleep,,serious stomach issues, I'm ressless.  I feel like I got hit by a truck. I just have to think of the outcome of all this. Thanks

You are going to be fine..what your describing is very normal w/d symptoms..thankfully you are not taking that many so you should be over the worst of it in a few dyas..Days 3-4 seem to be when the sypmtoms are the worst . Give it a week and then you should start to be feeling better. The hard part is staying off them.Drink lots of water, some immodium for stomach issues and you may want to get some vitamins . It seems that sleeping is hard to come by for awhile so you may want to try some melatonin for that or even something like tylenol pm..I personally preferred to go it alone..without the help of any other drugs..but you can always try some valium too if you need to..keep posting and congrats on making this decisio..
