Well............Thank-you everyone! I worked the last two days and let my mind go with the excuse of getting prepared! I knew I was gonna do that as soon as I read the post that stated,  "its better to wait and get your supplies in."
I knew I would take that excuse and run with it! SOO WEAK! Wish I would've read all of your posts b4 I chickened out. BUT I do have the same schedule next week...soo I am going with the same plan. Today ....Church to ask for some extra help. :0)  Then off to the health food store and shopping for all my supplies!! I will begin with Vitamins and minerals today along with cutting my hydro dose.  Friday will be my last day for the week and I won't have to be back to work until next Thursday,I pray to God that 5 days will be enough and I can go back to work feeling half my old self!
I am disappointed that I postponed it...but excited that I actually found you guys and now have a plan that I really believe is going to work!
I can't thank you all enough! As I stated b4 I am extremely computer illiterate and it took me forever to find this post again after being away for 2 days. I had to go like 4-5 pages in as was beginning to think I lost you guys! HA! SOO I AM BEGGIN.PLEASE look for me on Saturday as I am takin your advice Ron (Norco1947) and will post a day    " #1 I'm Jumpin!!" post. I would love it if you guys were there ...if u get a chance.....sometime during those days. And to clean-in-ks--    I will keep your quote on my mirror...."You'll never leave where you are till u decide where u wanna b!" Well I don't wanna be here anymore and know where I want to be!!! Thank you all again. Gotta run....runnin late for church. Hey..if you hear a church burnt down in NJ today...It was probably cause I walked in HAHA!! Take care guys!

An alternative to ensure or boosts that I liked better and were easier on my empty pocketbook....Carnation Instant Breakfast, milk chocolate mixed in ice cold milk.  Post back surgery, my doc wanted me to drink these, too.  I've heard a lot of ppl suggest muscle milk, whey protein mix and others.  Lots to choose from for sure. Walmart has them all.  EmergenC packets are loaded w/Vit C, all the essential B vitamins, full spectrum of minerals and electrolytes.  Fairly cheap, a packet a day in any flavor you want.
An added Cal/Mag/Zinc supplement really helps the healing process, too.

Hi flonight,
,  the above posts have covered most of your questions . Good advise from all .
You will need to stay strong thru detox . Eat ,drink lots of water take Vit's.  Look up the Thomas recipe right side of this page , health page . Buy some Ensure for when you just can't eat . Really helps.
I drank it ice cold (choclate) when i didn't want to eat , made my tummy feel better . You can live on Ensure full of Vit's . Cost alot buy worth it.
You must Eat & drink to heal .
This is very important ***  when you jump (quit) make sure you have no pills . Toss any you have . In a weak Min. you can't take what you don't have .
The sooner you jump the sooner the fear & stress and addicted no life will end .

When you jump post a day #1 post asking for support . We can help get you thru this . But you must want your life back bad , and fight like hell for a few days . Get as strong as you can & stay positive You can do this... Ron

Yep, I got that little "mind trick" hahaha...the nutritional items DO help for sure and it is RECOMMENDED to start it a week before you quit.....but you can STILL quit tomorrow as you planned Hahaha....if you have yourself ready to do this Sat (tomorrow).....don't let not having all the aminos, vit/minerals, etc already in your body for a week stop you.  There really is no PERFECT way for us to stop and get thru w/d.....we each have so much to share with what worked for us and of course, if it worked for us, we believe it may help you.
Just remember "If it's important to you, you'll find a way.  If not you'll find an excuse".  And another one I like that helped me..."You'll never leave where you are until you decide where you want to be."

Lortab, Vicoden and Norco are ALL hydrocodone......that's why I just say hydros....cause I'd take whatever I could get and even oxycodone if I couldn't get hydros.  Thru my 4 yr ordeal, I took all those name brands except Vics.  Same concept as Tylenol vs. acetaminophine and Advil vs. ibuprofen.
Wishing you well on this new road and so glad you found MH!  Keep posting, we'll be here~

Good responses...glad you found your way back.  One thing I just discovered and wanted to share.  If you can handle avocados they have more potassium than bananas.  And dehydration is your enemy.  That is one of the reasons we say Imodium is your best friend as the opiate trots can be so dehydrating.  Keep the liquids flowing.  Dehydration can make the withdrawals so much worse.

So glad you found us again!   I cried tears of joy and relief when I got responses to my posts the first time too.   It's so relieving to know we are not alone and that there are others that are going through or have been where you are at now.    Stick close to this site for ongoing support, you are going to need it!

As far as starting the supplements, yes!   I figured I was popping pills all day long, what was it going to hurt to take natural pills?   I have gone through wd without the Thomas Recipe and I can testify that it does make a big difference.    Get some epsom salts too.   When the wd starts, hot baths soaking in epsom salt will help with the aches, pains, anxiety and crawly skin feelings.   Some people took several baths or showers a day!    Make sure you have fresh clean sheets, jammies, a heating pad, blankets and cool cloths for the hot and cold.   Rent some comedy as your brain will try to take you to dark places.   Listening to my ipod helped force my mind off how I felt and I found myself getting into the music.   You might not feel like doing much of anything for a few days.   Just do what you can and take breaks in between.   But the most important thing is to not just lay around.  You have to force yourself to take a shower, do a load of laundry, go for a walk etc to make the time pass faster and and retrain ourselves how to do things without pills.   The time might feel like it is dragging.   Keep celebrating each hour that passes as an hour you are opiate free.   (And Norco is a brand name for Vicodin)   Some people can't sleep at night.   Make sure you have lots of movies, a good book.   I would take Melatonin and Nyquil to help me get to sleep.   And Immodium is a must!!   It will be your best friend for about a week.  It binds in your intestines like an opiate but does not cross the blood brain barrier.   I found it helped also ease some of my other wd symptoms too.   Other common wd symptoms are sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, yawning, restless legs/arms.   Walgreens has a product called restless leg.

Just think of it like a really bad flu and be ok with not being ok for a few days.   Once you get past the physical w/d, the mental aspect becomes the next thing to tackle with cravings, feeling like you are in a fog, depression for some.   Please seek out some aftercare or support.   Those that don't have a hard time staying away from the pills even though they swear they would never touch them again.   (I know, I was a chronic relapser) .

We are here for you and you can do this!!

Thanks sooo much Ron, little bit and Nolife! I'm not very computer literate so I wasn't sure I would find this site again after getting in the shower....but I did!! And here you were!!!!     I just started crying like a babe,,,knowing people ARE REALLY OUT THERE...willing to help. I suspect that was nearly everyones reaction when they first got on here and saw someone responded to thier post. Thanks sooo much! Forgive me for my ignorance but is Norco another word for vicoden? And I read somewhere on here that I should start the vitamin/mineral/L-Tyrosine regimen one week prior to stopping. Will that really make that much of a difference?????? Cause my mind was gonna use that as an excuse to wait another week! HA! Typical...huh??

Hi Flonight , Welcome , Good start comeing here .
I also was Medical addicted to Norco , Was using 100mg a day . Found this site and with the support i received here i am now 4 months pain pill free . If a old guy like me can do it , You can do it.
Your dose is on the low side so you should be able to do this . Yes it will be like the worst flu you ever had . But it ends .
As you have read the first 100 hours are the tuffest . But you can get thru it . Many people here are pill free using this site for help support advise .
You can do this .
W/D is harder for some , not as hard for others , your dose is lower then most .
The fear is worse then the W/D itself . The fear will leave fast replaced with a new pride . No more shame .
Remember all the fear , W/D panic , loss of energy , emotions will end . they alre all part of normal detox. Everyone goes thru them . No body dies .
You should start to feel much better by day 4-5 and better every few day from there . by day 30 you should be feeling pretty good , near normal all around happy , your old self again . .. Ron

So glad you found this group.  It has been a lifesaver for me and I hope it can help you as well.  Most find that withdrawals seem to take 3-5 days for the worst to be over.  There are some things you can to to help.  Here is what I did and I hope it helps.

I kept telling myself...YOU HAVE the FLU!  It will be over and I will feel so much better.  My brain seemed to get that and settled down a little.  It is hard, but doable!  The Thomas Recipe (bottom of the page) under Health Pages will help.  I had to cut back on the Ltryosine, but the rest really helped.  Imodium, Imodium, Imodium (liquid or pills if the liquid can't be found or you can't swallow it) will help.  I took double the dosage for a few days (personal choice) and it helped so much..even with the withdrawals in general and the opiate trots which sucked.

Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink)  You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible.

If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works.  Walking seemed to help me some.  Hot bath with epsom salts..a little.  I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep.  If nothing works, your doctor might help.  Benedryl or OTC Alteril helps some with sleep issues and you will have them.

One hour at a time is all anyone can ask.  After 2 weeks it gets a little better and I started to say, One day at a time!  Your brain will do all sorts of things to get you to take a pill.  I found if I was hungry..the cravings got worse.  I would try to eat a banana, a few grapes or a few crackers to get that under control.

The hardest part comes after the detox.  Your brain will be all over the place and will try to get you back on the pills...It is having to work and not depend on the pills to help.

Good for you.  I hope all goes well.  You have made a good start coming here....this site has helped me so much!!!  Keep posting!!!!!

Hi and Welcome!  This is such a great site with some very caring and knowledgeable people helping each other.    Look up the Thomas Recipe on this page for things to help ease your wd.   By 5 days the worst of it should be over.   And going back to work will be tiring but you will feel better doing something rather than sitting around thinking about how you feel.   Nobody is immune to becoming addicted to this stuff, so don't feel ashamed.   You are doing a good thing taking your life back and not being a slave to those pills anymore.    Keep checking in and post often for support.
