opiates are a little different than benzos, yeah longer lasting opioids like methadone or suboxone are harder and longer to wd from lasting a month or more, methadone is a little harder than suboxone but both are brutal, i cant tell you how abd methadone wd's are..theya re absolutely your opiate DOC times a billion, i had to go to jail for unpaid tickets and i went 110+ hours without my daily 100mgs of methadone and it was worse than anything ever and on top of that i went more than 3 days without my prescribed xanax which i was taking 8+ mgs a day for over a year, so i was wding from that and that aint no picnic..benzo wd can be lethal causing stroke and seizures, absolutely brutal....for benzos switching from say xanax(alprazolam) or lorzepam(ativan) to valium(diazepam) or clonazepam(klonopin) both long lasting anti-anxiety good wd combatants. klonopins are really potent .25mg=10 mgs valium and .5mg xanax=10mgs valium, so they ar eboth very ptoent, but clonazepam and valium last for 20+ hours and are easier to taper down slowly from, ive had to do it many times, and it works everytime, thats your best shot to avoid wd's with benzos becareful cold turkey is the worst idea ever
Yes, Steve, Xanax is more difficult to withdraw from than Valium. The point is that having a shorter half life it will not allow your body to wean off from it at an steady pace and you can feel,or you will, the withdrawal symptoms real quick and very difficult to go away. I t will take from months to in some cases more than a year to recover from Xanax withdrawal than from any other benzo. Believe, it is my drug of choice and I managed to cut down from 10mg a day(aprox)back in July to 5mg a day now, and I suffer every single day from some withdrawal symptoms like the the muscle cramps and headaches and lack of sleep, sometimes a bit of anxiety too. It will be a long battle, but I have to keep steady and fight it.
