Cant take it

I am living with my alcoholic boyfriend, and he is slowly deteriorating, hes only 45 but drinks a pint of brandy a day on weekdays (because of work) plus a six pack of beer, and on weekends a LARGE bottle of brandy, sometimes more, and then is deathly ill Monday and Tuesday, he coughed up blood two days ago and I fear he is near death, has anyone had these symptoms? and is it possible it is still reversable? He  has yellowing of the skin and eyes, pain in the upper abdomen that radiates to the back, vomits every morning around 4a.m., very large swelling of the abdomen, I can feel his right side very much distended like a hard softball is in there. His arms have become very thin, hes lost about 15 pounds without trying, he hardly eats, and is constipated ( hasnt had a normal bowel movement in about a month) , what causes this constipation?

I hope that you call 911 and get him some help, you're the only hope he has.

I am so sorry that you have to watch this happening daily. Have you gone to Al-Anon for support? You need to have friends in your corner and to give you advice. Your husband needs a liver biopsy now!!! before it is too late. Will an intervention help? Are you willing to give your husband a bottom line that he goes to a physician and follows through with health care? You have a right to know if your husband is close to death!! A yellowing of the eyes and skin is indicative of late stage alcoholism w/serious liver damage.The liver is where alcohol is metabolized and when it is drowned by the alcohol it becomes fatty and toxic and these toxins are released in2 the bloodstream causing the yellowing you are seeing.What is causing his constipation?If his diet is mainly that of alcohol and you describe ABNORMALLY LARGE amounts.......the liver is swollen most likely pressing on other organs.Alcohol damages the pancreas as well.It takes YEARS of drinking to reach this stage!

Dear Worried, I can't possibly give any medical advice because I am not a trained medic. You know your boyfriends body is shutting down he needs immediate medical help! I'm so so sorry for you that for whatever reason your boyfriend will not seek help. You must feel in such a horrendous place right now and my heart goes out for you! The way I see things is that you take things into your own hands and call 911 or carry on the way you are. You do realise your boyfriends brain will be so poisoned by alcohol that he will in no way be thinking straight, he may well need you to call 911 as in his mind he may be ok.
