Alcohol and Depression

My boyfriend has been sober for 9 months however for some reason this past weekend he gave into tempations and drank.  When he drinks he craves crack.  He stayed out all night and came home the next night.  He is upset with himself for giving in and falling off the wagon however now he seems to just want to be alone all the time.  He says he wants help but he would rather lie in bed all the time.  Is this normal when they are going through withdrawals?

You say he was sober 9 months?  Does that mean with a recovery program or just dry?  Your question, though was about withdrawal. I doubt there is a lot of physcial withdrawal left after so long, most of it is mental. We try to self medicate to make ourselves feel better with alcohol and drugs.  A whole can of worms opens up with a addictive personality.  It is not easy to stay clean.  If he really wants it, perhaps he will go to a therapist, that's a start.
