Adrenaline surges 27/7 that won't go away!

I have a severe phobia of vomiting and this has lead me to have anxiety for most of my life.

For many years I have been able to control it but for the last year I have been getting extreme adrenaline surges that last for about 3 days (morning and night). I mean there is no relief from it in those 3 days!!

I can't think properly, I lose weight (which I can't afford to do), I feel sick, I feel like I want to literally pull my hair out with these adrenaline surges - I just don't know what to do with myself.

I heard my 13 year old say to his little brother - I feel so sorry for mum, she's always sick. This broke my heart into tiny pieces as I don't want them to think this of me.

Is there anything I can do about my new symptom the 'CONSTANT adrenaline surge'?!

Does it sound like a normal anxiety symptom, it's in my chest and I can have an attack even when I think I'm feeling calm.

Yes I'm doing all of that but nothing is helping or stopping this horrendous feeling.

When therapy doesn't work, and you've tried a couple of different therapists, then you're left with medication, which means seeing a psychiatrist.  On the other hand, you seem to be expecting therapy and relaxation techniques to work immediately and always.  That isn't how it works.  It takes time, and life will always ebb and flow.  That's also true of medication.  Have you worked hard in therapy?  And have you seen a therapist who makes you work, who doesn't just sit there and chat?

First, you have no idea if you're having adrenaline surges or not -- adrenaline is a real substance, not a metaphor.  You're feeling anxious.  The anxiety caused your phobia, not the other way around.  Are you seeing a psychologist who specializes in anxiety treatment?  Are you doing any relaxation techniques such as exercise, yoga, meditation, etc.?  (A psychologist who specializes in anxiety treatment can teach you these, or you can learn them on your own).
