Amitriptyline

Has any one used Amitriptyline for burning / nerve issues
I have been prescribed this by my GP due to strange teeth sensations which could possible now to agrivated nerves / odd type of burning mouth syndrome ( although not typical symptoms ), might be due to lots of dentistry work . Also get anxiety if symptoms keep coming back .
It worked very well to start , get much better sleep . Symptoms started up during the day last week so GP raised dosage from 10mg GP 20 mg ...it seems to be easing again just hope it can keep symptoms away as I find it difficult to deal with ,
Would love to hear from any that can help or has had similar experience

Have you seen a dentist or endodontist with a CT scan machine to see if there's something going on there that is hard to see?  That's if it's definitely in your teeth.  Sometimes what you're experiencing is the result of a cracked or infected tooth, and I speak from both past and current experience, unfortunately.  I wouldn't personally take an antidepressant to suppress what I'm feeling unless the appropriate professionals all eliminated all physiological possibilities.  As far as the drug, that's an odd one to use for what you're feeling other than the anxiety, but you have good reason to be anxious.  It certainly won't fix whatever is wrong.  The drugs usually used to suppress nerve pain when there's no cure is either Lyrica or Neurontin.  Some have used ssris for chronic pain with no cure.  I've never heard of using a tricyclic for that especially given one of the most common side effects of this class of antidepressants is dry mouth, which causes teeth problems.  Now, I'm having the same problems right now -- I had a tooth pulled a few months ago and a cavity filled recently right near it over a month ago, and my whole mouth hurts and so far nobody has found a reason.  But I'm already on antidepressants and a benzo for my anxiety problem and it ain't helping my teeth a bit, if you get my drift, and like you it's driving me nuts.

I'm sorry, I said ssris for chronic pain.  I mean snris.
