Anxiety and Habits

Does anyone have problems with habits and anxiety? I chew gum til I feel like my teeth are going to fall out. I can't quit just like smoking. The more anxiety I have the more I chew and smoke. I started chewing gum because of the dry mouth but now I can't guit. If I don't chew the gum then I clench my teeth all day. I do that at night when I sleep. I take 1 1/2 kalopin a night which helps some with the sleep but not much. I have adverse effects to all antidepressents and sleeping aids. If I take a speep aid it wires me up.

I tend to check things several times to assure myself things are done right. I also wring my hands a lot. I too take Klonopin. Can't live with it and can't live without it.

Now that you mention it yes, besides smoking which I plan to quit in the fall....still setting my quit date...when I sit and if I am anxious I subconsciously twist my legs around each other which I don't realize until I feel pain either in my legs or groin.  The other thing that I do to stop this is stand up and do stuff which seems to occupy my mind and distract me rather than sit and have the period last longer.

I once knew someone that chewed their lips (with no gum) when they got bouts of anxiety needless to say that looked very painful.
