Fast acting anxiety med

Good Evening. So here is my dilemma. I partake in 7-8 events per year that cripple me with anxiety. I somehow manage to get through them but feel utter dread in the weeks leading up to them and certainly don't enjoy any part of them during the time. Recently to combat this I've been taking a small quantity of illegal drugs on the day which squashes the anxiety and make me feel more sociable and at ease.

Obviously going forward i want to stop this so wondered if there was a fast acting Benzo that could be taken on the day to chill me out???

But consider this -- don't know what illegal drug you're taking but most of them are as safe or safer than benzos, though the illegal part isn't a good long-term strategy as you can get caught.  As far as benzos are concerned, though, if you only take them those 7-8 times a year you won't build up a tolerance and you won't become addicted to them -- that only happens when you take them on a regular basis.

Most benzos will do the temporary job, but you run the risk that eventually you might get more anxious and have to up the dose. Have you tried therapy to see if some one on one will help arm you with some techniques to deal with the event anxiety?
