Are these symptoms of anxiety?

its about my 17yr old son. He is a very intelligent person but since the age of 13 he started showing symptoms of anxiety. he in now 17 and seem to have no interests in the real world. plays computer games 24/7 wont go to school and always sleeping. can't seem to have a real conversation with him. if i or anyone speak to him it will be yes, no ...just one word answers. He bites his nails so much that they have gone away from his fingers. This causes me anxiety and stress. I too can suffer from panic attacks and .....I am beginning to become like him.  HELP!

Ha Ha! reading back on this post. The stress took its toll  and I was diagnosed with cancer soon after this.. All is good now,  my son still plays his games going to college but turned out to be quite self sufficient, happy and  lovely individual. He has recently been offered a place in a top Uni. Thanks for your comment.

Sounds like depression and anxiety, but a doctor or therapist would be able to diagnose him. This situation reallly appears to be affecting you aswell,it might not hurt for you to get some therapy aswell to see if you can relieve your stress and anxiety as a result of your sons behaviour.I wish both of you all the best.
