At the end of my rope

It's torture.  Every morning I get up I have to deal with this.  I have and wonderful wife and a beautiful daughter.  I battle Depression, Anxiety and most recently diagnosed with Panic on top of it.  My therapist that I just started seeing (who is wonderful btw) says we need to fix the biochemical malfunction before we can address the psychological aspect of my disorder(s).  I have been on Citalopram for several years.  Good times and bad times throughout, but my therapist says that is definitely not the right choice of meds for what I have.  So she referred me to a different psychiatrist to start changing my meds.  Is this going to be my life now?  Am I going to have to quit my job!?  Is my wife gonna leave me because I'm crazy!!???  I'm so broken down.... So tired, so so tired

It does get better brother. Good docs and support help. Btw my wife is kinda the same when it happens like saying toughen up but in the end we have to take care of ourselves. I personally try to convert any negative statements to something positive as fuel to heal.

I have the same problem. Your body will eventually bring back that feeling of hunger. In the mean time try to eat small meals or shakes during the day to keep something on your stomach.

Well normally I'm only able to get a few bites down of an evening when I home.  Not very much tho.  I try to drink as much water as I can

When my anxiety rises...of course. How can you eat when you are not well? I force my self to eat because I have lost so much weigh the past 6 months. But don't fear that you are going to starve to death.Your body will make you feel hungry long before that. This is how body works.Do you spend a lot of days without eating?

I know man. I am going through the same fight. There is no other way than fight.Sometime it helps me thinking that there are people out there fighting horrible diseases and I bless god for my current status. If you can't focus on the better days that coming...then focus on what you have right now! You have a wife and a kid....and they both love you.You do have some problems but it's nothing unbeatable. You have all the reasons to hope for the best. You are not alone in this fight, you have your family, the doctors and everyone that is going through the same situation as you.

Thank u Floyd, it's just hard to keep up the energy to fight it.  Especially when it completely (and I mean COMPLETELY) takes my appetite away.  My brain keeps thinking negative thoughts like my wife isn't happy and I will lose my job and I'll never b able to eat again and I'll die bc of it

Hang in there man!! Don't give up,doctors and psycologists will help you go through this.Don't think that your wife is going to leave you..think that you are lucky to have a family to support you! I am sure they will support you to the fullest! Don't loose hope and never give up...better days are coming, you have to believe that!

I understand where you're coming from. After 15 yrs with the same psychiatrist I recently switched. This was a difficult move but a needed one. I see a therapist as well as my psyc every so often. It's a battle that's for sure and I'm fighting it right now. I too am married and have a young child. Don't worry about quitting your job or your wife leaving you. Jobs come and go and keeping yourself busy at work (keeping your mind busy) is very imp. If your wife is understanding now I'm sure she will be as time goes. What you are going through is no different than someone who perhaps has diabetes as it is something that needs to be tx. It does get better with time, sometimes more time than we want to wait. Hang in there, see a psyc as well as your therapist and do the best you can.
