Can anxieity affect the immune system?

Is this possible?

When the person feels anxiety they are not feeling like they are going to die they really can die if the anxiety in this case makes the immune system freak out producing a whole slew of real life threating reactions because of this anxiety. And too boot non anxiety meds do stop it.

So can anxiety make the immune system turn on the body like that? Or do I have it backwards as the anxiety is just a reaction when the immune sys goes hang wire? I was just thinking that maybe anxiety was the trigger affecting the immune response? Can it work both ways? Thanks.

Thanks. I have been to many doctors about my health. I don't come up with this stuff on my own. Two doctors said maybe it was anxiety triggering the immune sys to freak out as in work too strong over time. One doctor said if you have an anxiety attack the the cells of the body can remember it and act all on their own next time you have that problem similar to how an allergy works on the cell level. So this doctor tried to drill in to me that there are 2 kinds of anxiety. One in the brain and another on the cells level that remembers the anxiety. They said ... Never mind. I realize that that was a bunch of bull now. But now you know where my questions came from.

I'm just desperate to identify my problem. But I don't trust doctors any more either until they prove them selves. So I research as much as I can. I know I have allergies but I don't think my allergies are triggering my systemic reactions since there are other things that trigger the systemic reactions too. I'd rather have anxiety then anaphylaxis and rather have anxiety than another unknown systemic reaction. I'm going to put anxiety subject to rest finally. I have changed doctors since but I never got answers. When someone with all the degrees say "with all their years of experience" and "they are absolutely sure and know for a fact this is how it works", me, with no medical education, I listen, then research to learn how or why they told me what they did.
But these other doctors keep bringing up anxiety when they can't come up with any other answers. Like your immune system is freaking out to anxiety and attacking your body. So try and be calm and it will stop. I didn't think systemic shock happened from anxiety either but they are the doctors so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and researched it.

And I am really glad to have people here like all of you that can help me learn the truth. I'm not naive, I'm not a doctor and in the past I had told a doctor he was wrong and actually I was wrong. So I don't trust my instincts against their education. I am desperate to find a cure or at least identify what is really happening and why.

Really thank you. I needed these answers.

That was a good response. Well understood!
