Thank you very much for your reply and yes I will still be taking Klonopin.
Namaste,
You do not have to be off Anafranil prior to taking Celexa, although you should not be taking them together.
Anafranil is one of the older forms of anti-depressant called a tricyclic, whereas Celexa is one of the newer SRRI's.
Celexa is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). It works by restoring the balance of serotonin, a natural occuring substance found in the brain, which helps to improve certain mood problems.
Celexa is used to treat depression.
It may take 4 weeks or longer before you start feeling better. Do not stop using Celexa without first talking to your doctor. You may have unpleasant side effects if you stop taking this medication suddenly.
You also did not mention if your Klonopin is going to be discontimued. I personally would recommend that it not be discontinued until the Celexa has time to build up a blood level and see how you feel.
Or, if you also suffer from anxiety, your Klonopin is important, since Celexa is almost useless for anxiety.
Hope this information helps.
