Concerns About Taking Paxil and Xanax

My mother who is 79 years old, has severe arthritis and has dealt with anxiety for many years has been prescribed for sometime by her doctor to take 20 mg Paroxetine and 2 mg Alprazolam in the morning, 1 mg Alprazolam at lunch and 2 mg Alprazolam before bedtime.  Paroxetine is the generic for Paxil and Alprazolam is the generic for Xanax.  Is it normal to be taking Paxil and Xanax at the same time?

My Grandma age of 72 has been taking Valium on and off for the past 20 years, and that seems to work pretty good for her, its a low dose..I believe it is 2mgs twice daily

I know accumulation could possibly cause a problem, but It seems like valium is always the choice Benzodiazapine for the elderly from where Im from.
What do you think about Valium and the elderly, Ryan?

Please don't let your mom take the xanax. It's highly addictive and will cause tolerance and to come off takes a very long painful tappering program. All the benozdiazepine drugs are highly addictive.  Please reasearch the drug more. See www.ashtonbenzomanual.com
