That's agrophobia is it not? Five miles is not that far really. But for people like us it can seem like a million miles away. So we stick to our little routines. Routines that keep us close to home. Just in case we need to get back home quickly. Yes there is a way out of it. But it means stepping out of your comfort zone. It is far from easy. Facing up to the things you fear most of all. But I always suggest you do it bit by bit. Not a mad dash or anything like that. That can set you back if you fall flat on your face. You go that little bit further each time. Adapting to the feelings it brings with it. Getting comfortable with the feelings. And trust me it will hit you hard at first. Enough to make you want to run back home. But that's what we don't want to do. We want to stay there. Let those feelings hit us. Odd as that sounds. Because that's the only way we will ever get used to them. And each time they hit the hardness of them will become less and less. That's if we are letting them come on. The more we fight the harder it is to break that chain. Trust me on that. I spent over a decade in the house. You may need some other form of medication. The xanax might have lost its effectiveness on you. But medication is only half the battle. It is not the full answer. Theraphy helps as well. But the real fight must come from you. Feel free to look over on the agrophobic forums. They are part of medHelp. You might be able to relate to some of the topics over there. See something that may match what you are feeling.
