I forgot to add, that using betablockers for a few months to a year will probably not have a strong impact on your health, so u might benefit from it during benzo withdrawal.

Some people use betablockers for 20 years since young age and claim to have little to no side-effects,
so maybe they are safe.

STILL... i'd rather not be on betablockers unless really necessary.
Good luck in finding out what is the best way for you.

I agree with M4Y0U

Sounds like a transistion taper plan.

If your going to "have" tot ake a Benzodiazapine for a longer period of time, Klonopin is a much better choice due to it long half life.
This will reduce the chance of Tollerance withdraws, increasing the amounted needed to achieve the same effect, and will be easier to withdraw from when you do feel strong enough without it.

Your Doc should eventually have you take a dose of Klonopin slpit up 2X a day.
There is also allot less ups and downs with it...after a few weeks, you should feel "normal" 99% of the time:)

Take Care

Hello there,

I think what your doctor is trying to do is trying to get you off Ativan, which is a short-term treatment,  to replace it with Klonopin which can be used as a long-term treament for anxiety.

Best regards,
M4

Betablockers are probably the safest anti-anxiety drug.
If you are young I would not advise beta-blockers because they too have side-effects, although from all drugs that can be used for psychiatric reasons... the beta-blockers are the safest to use. (unless you are prone to a low heartrate and low bloodpressure!!)

Beta-blockers can are not healthy either... for more info read:

If you can't get your problems under control after giving other solutions a good long and honest chance, then you could consider going on them.
With a bit of luck you will not have much problems from taking them longterm.

Taking them short term (one month to a few months) will not affect your body too much.
If it makes you feel any better, I used to have the same problems as you but i fully recovered after realizing I CAN CONTROL MYSELF.

Hello

Both klonopin and ativan are benzo's. It is not a bright idea that your doctor prescribe's you benzo's. It is not a good idea that he prescribes 2 different kinds at the same time either.

---------------

The page below will explain to you why i advise strongly against any kind of psychiatric drug. It also offers a solution to heal your mental problems without pharma drugs.

http://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/139638?personal_page_id=833496

Interdose benzodiazepine withdrawal is known to cause anxiety. One of the problems with benzo's is that you have to keep upping your dose. Withdrawal from them has to happen very slowly, lest you become prone to protracted benzo withdrawal.

The way to withdraw from benzo's is by using the ashton manual, which is found below.
http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm

sadly doctors often don't understand the way the drugs they prescribe work...
and therefor try to taper too fast, big mistake.
