GABA and anxiety?

Can too high a dose of GABA cause anxiety?  I know GABA is used to bring anxiety down but I took 750mg. and my anxiety became much higher and my stomach was very nauseous!   A few hours later I took 2.5mg. of valium and I feel much better.
But now I don't know what to do about the GABA?

Hi;

   Valium and other benzos do not affect the level of GABA, only potentiate it. GABA is a "braking" neurotransmitter.
   Your body probably has adequate amounts of GABA itself.

GABA comes in a capsule form.  Right now they are trying to balance out my hormones.  I was doing so well on an OTC progesterone cream but it was becoming way too costly.  I found a Dr. of DO who prescribed an RX compound bioidentical hormone cream.  So, I may be going thru some downs switching over.

Namaste,

I haven't heard of GABA exacerbating anxiety, but for me personally, I didn't find it effective in treating anxiety either.

Personally, based on past experience, I wouldn't bother wasting my money on GABA, as an adjunct to your current therapy.

That's the herbal drink? Someone wrote a post about it the other day. I may be wrong. Might be something else. But I wouldn't mix and match as such. Best of finding out as much about these things in advance. Asking a doctor if it safe to take along with what you are on. Don't know enough about it to comment really.
