HIV Anxiety

5 weeks ago I was involed in "Low Risk" sexual contact with a female. 3 weeks after I developed Pains in my lymphnodes followed fever 99.5 to 100.3 and a sore throart that looks red but causes no pain. I had no cough and sinus symptoms that you would have with normal viruses. this all lasted about 10 days

this is day 20 and I still have a red throat that is not healing and I am running hot all the time. I am axious about getting the next test done. I am scared and I have been breaking down crying alot. This anxiety is ruining my life. I may or may not have HIV and the thought of it is killing me. I have gotten to the point where I just want to give up. Nothing that I used to enjoy nothing makes me smile. I cant eat I cant finish a cup of coffee. Cant listen to music, all these things make it worse. but the silence is just as bad. I am losing myself in these thoughts.

Is there anyone out there like me. I need your thoughts....

The link to the HIV Anxiety Forum is...............

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/HIV-Anxiety-Support/show/595

You do not need to be sorry for posting in what you think is the wrong forum. As we add more and more forums to the community, we all get a bit confused at times.

Perhaps just a word of caution. While joggen, who is the group leader, is one of the most patient people I've ever seen, you must understand that he is an expert on HIV/AIDS and will respond to the same question/concern just so many times before he, too, will ask you to move on.
If you cannot accept the answers of Teak, Lizzie Lou, me or joggen, then you need to get into a therapy program as we can no longer help you.
Best of luck

Just to let you know some scientific aspects... all these physical symptoms like pain in the lymphs etc.. happens due to decrease of a chemical called Serotonin from brain.. anti-depression medicine would just add this chemical and make you feel relaxed and removes your fear... these things usually dont affect nonhysteria-tic persons..

thank you for your relpies. I did nto know there was an HIV Anxiety forum.

I have never felt axiety before and what it can do to your body. I am sorry to have posted in the wrong forum. Everyone has assured me that I am fine so, for now i have been trying to relax and do things that i like to to do. it is hard to recover from fear. and my axiety comes from feeling that i might have ruined my life and those around me that love me. i would not say that i am depressed, since i have never been depressed. I am just scared and worried sick. I am axious about testing and scared of the result. anyway thanks again for the replies. I just need time i guess.

Hi.. Dont be panic... this would not be a problem at all...HIV would not spread as you think..... but dont go for these kind of paid sex again... you look to be in a depression, better consult with a psychiatrist and take some medicine for anti-depression.. would solve the problem. Just for your satisfaction do some STD testing...

Looking at your post on the HIV Prevention Forum, I see that you received many answers to your repeated postings. I urge you to go to the HIV Anxiety Forum, unless you've been asked to "move on" from them as well. Those of us here are not experts in HIV/AIDS. Our advice from this forum would be for you to get into therapy for this irrational fear you can't let go of.
I'll end this with the best answer you got from the best person to give it...............

You had no exposure."

There is nothing left to say except seek out a qualified mental health professional.

Here is the old post

Oral sex and prtected vaginal sex. But i am starting to wonder as i remember that when i pulled out the condom stayed in her. i dont know if i went in with out it. my come was in the condom. I just cant remember anymore. I am pretty sure that after i finished in hte condom while in her, i then pulled out and the condom slipped off. I hope that does not change my risk. sooo scared

Describe your "low risk" sexual encounter. Until we understand exactly what your exposure was, we can't give you any sort of response.
Did you post on the HIV Prevention Forum? If you did, and you're now on our forum, it's because you've been told by the best that you had no risk but are having difficulty accepting that.
Re-post and we'll talk.
Peace
