If you're still having a very high level of anxiety, you probably should seek out a therapist. He/she will help you learn to cope with the anxiety/panic, and find ways to dismiss the intrusive thoughts. I know it's very scary, but I can reassure you that anxiety will not harm you.
Another thing you can do is to get some exercise, eat healthy, try to get sufficient sleep, and keep yourself distracted. Get busy with life...work, school, hobbies. The less idle time you have, the less catastrophic thinking you will do.
Definitely call and get an appt to see someone though, so you can start the therapy process. If possible, a therapist well versed in CBT is a good choice.

therapy is helpful. Anxiety can be caused by certain environmental or developmental issues. It can also be the result of a neurotransmitter imbalance. If therapy is something you are unwilling to do or if you do not find it helpful, I recommend speaking to your physician about trying a mild medication to help correct a potential neurotransmitter imbalance. A safe and inexpensive option is generic lexapro (other ssri options like zoloft or viibryd). Medications like Xanax or klonopin can also be helpful but are shorter acting and potentially addictive so I highly recommend trying a few SSRI options first.
