Thanks so much for the comment I thought no one would answer me or understand. I know my boyfriend doesn't get how worried I am about this. And my anxiety makes me over think and get in my head. I'm already on anxiety medication I take 1mg Ativan once a day. I just feel like I'm too young for a heart problem if that is what PVCs are a problem? lol I just feel really overwhelmed.
Hello there! Welcome!!
I've experienced PVC's many many times, and while they FEEL unnerving and FEEL like they could be harmful, they are totally benign. If the symptoms continue, your doc may want to order a 24 hr holter monitor, where you would wear an EKG machine (portable obviously) for a day, and write your activities and any symptoms in a journal. That usually reveals any issues you have that don't show up on a one-time EKG. (Isn't that annoying, btw? Like when your car makes a noice, but doesn't do it when you take it into the shop? UGH!)
PVC's don't REQUIRE treatment, but a lot of times the symptoms are bothersome, so a frequent treatment approach would be a beta blocker (like Inderal, Corgard). Beta blockers are also used commonly to treat anxiety, so it's kind of a "kill two birds with one stone" kind of thing. I have a heart murmur and when I was younger, had a lot of palpitations and PVC's. While they didn't hurt me, I couldn't stand them, they drove me nuts. I have taken both Inderal and Corgard (at different times), both were very effective.
Be reassured that you're being proactive about your health, with the bloodwork and EKG, etc. At your age, there is not much to worry about as far as a serious health issue goes. Things like anemia, and PVC's can be easily remedied. The PVC's are treated symptomatically, and anemia is usually treated with supplemental iron, or whatever replacement is needed (there are a few different kinds of anemia). Anemia, btw, would also exacerbate PVC's, so if you ARE anemic, simply correcting that may take care of the PVC's, if they are related. I certainly understand your worrying about this, but in all honesty, you don't have too much to be concerned about.
Let us know the results of your tests! I'm sure you'll be just fine!
