Horrible, horrible anxiety/panic

Hi..I hope I can get some help here..I am desperate. I have suffered from anxiety/panic disorder for many, many
years. It got really bad after the death of my 11 year old son. However, I was also functionable, sometimes it was very difficult and would have bad attacks and land up at the e.r...Well, for the past year I have become housebound. They are not attacks, it is constant. I am shaking, I feel dizzy, I feel faint, I get tightness in my chest, I feel like I am going to die. I have tried every natural herb/therapy known to man..I finally agreed to go on prozac. Well, I have a very strong sensitivity to meds (all meds), so they started me on a very, v ery low dose..I am taking liquid prozac, .5 ml which is only 2mg and it is day 4 and I am going crazy..I am so jittery, feel like vomiting, going to pass out and it all day long. I have a few ativan here and took one and that did help...Anyone else, suffer like this and anyone else try prozac and how did you do..Please help...debbie

You are correct prozac can make you more anxious in the start.  The ativan may be very helpful for you while you are getting used to the side effects if that is what it really is.  Have you talked or gone to any type of therapy?  It truly is helpful, but it has to be more than just a one type thing.

Thank you so much for your reply..I am really going to try and hang in there and give the prozac a chance. I am probobly reacting to it because I am afraid of it...I started taking .5 of ativan yesterday and that did help calm me down. I may have to take the ativan till I get used to the prozac. I hear prozac can make you more anxious in the beginning, but it gets better. my anxiety/panic is 24/7. My body hurts from being so tense. I feel like I am dying all the time...It is horrible..I don't know how I got to this place.
Losing my son was horrible. It was unexpected, he was hit and killed by a speeding driver when he was 11..I cry for him everyday and I suspect I am having some major ptsd with the anxiety. I just want to be able to leave the house and be somewhat normal..Thanks for your concern...

Hey there. I am so sorry to hear about your child that you lost. That can be very hard, expected or unexpected I can only imagine how that would be.. I am so sorry... I am on prozac now 40mg.. I am doing fine with it, but everybody is different.  Prozac can take up to 2 months to fully kick in though, so keep that in mind. and yes 2mg is almost nothing when it comes to prozac, but you say you are sensitive to meds, so maybe this is a good place for you to start?  You must be really senstive IF those side effects are from the prozac.  I hope you can find help for your anxiety. I would suggest therapy, it can truly help, but you have to go more then once. it is a continual thing, they and your doctor can help you find the right medication.  Again prozac works great for me, everybody is different though.  Just remember if you stick with it 2mg is very low for prozac, most people start at 10mg for their starting dose, and it can take up to 8 weeks to kick in.
