Do the weaning -- it's just safer. Caution won't hurt you. Withdrawal can be bad, though for you that's very unlikely.
I'll never be off Paxil. I mean, I stopped using it, but my idiot psychiatrist didn't tell me about withdrawal. I waited a year, but it wouldn't stop, so now I'm on Lexapro for two years, but it's not doing much. Don't know what's next for me. That's why it's good to be aware, do your own homework, and be cautious and you'll be fine.
I was prescribed this by a neurologist and talk about 'idiot' when I mentioned that a lot of people gain weight with this drug he got a large reference book out! I mean, he had Lexapro paraphanalia all over his office! He should know this.
I have an appointment next week but can't wait that long. So, I was taking 5mg half a pill, I should go to .25mg for a few days.......do I have to? I hate this medication. Just awful, I never want to see it again. What are the symptoms if I just didn't take any?
Are you off Paxil?
Since you've been taking it only a short time and a low dose, it shouldn't be a big problem to quit, but I would wean. If you have an idiot for a psychiatrist like most of us, you can find weaning schedules on the internet by using Google. As for how long it stays in the system, the actual drug is out of the system in hours. But withdrawal has less to do with whether the drug is your system or not to what your body has to do to get back to stasis without the drug.
