How long does rebound anxiety last?

Been on ativan 2mg x3 a day and quit cold turkey 2.5 months ago. have terrible rebound effects and couldn't take so went to a clinic. Was put on klonipin. Guess I was in the window of vulenrability cuz it didn't help and after a week of taking them so I quit that cold turkey too. Wondering how long the rebound symptoms will last and is there anything I can do. Thanx for any help.

Not Ryan, but you might want to google Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome -- not a whole lot there, but it'll at least explain what you're going through and list some articles by the foremost expert on benzo detox.

Rebound anxiety isn't the same thing as withdrawal problems.  Some people get protracted withdrawals from benzos; the best way to prevent this is to not get them in the first place, which means slowly tapering off.  Rebound anxiety, I think, is when you're still on a medication and it begins to give you a paradoxical reaction -- I'm sure Ryan could answer this much better.

I don't know guess I feel since I've been off the drug for 2.5 months why should I go back on it. Do you have any idea how long I have to put up with the rebound effects?? Unfortunately, I had to move cuz I just couldn't function on my own. Don't have any insurance either. :(

I agree that is never a good idea to stop a benzo cold turkey.  How long were you on it?  Tapering slowly will minimize the withdrawal effects and make them MUCH more manageable.  Why not go back to your doctor and discuss your issues the medication?

Quitting a benzodiazepine cold turkey is not a good idea and could be dangerous. You should always discuss with your doctor before quitting a drug. The only way to avoid withdrawal symptoms is to taper off slowly.
