Seeing A GP for Anxiety tomorrow-And I'm anxious!

Hi all! I'm going to my GP tomorrow for anxiety and wouldn't you know it, I'm anxious! I have suffered from anxiety symptoms for as long as I can remember and recently my anxiety has just peaked. I have been having worse panic attacks and I just feel like my life is spiraling further and further out of control. I went to a dermatologist to consult with him about my excessive sweating (also anxiety related). He told me that I should consult with a doctor about my symptoms which would help with the shaking and the panic attacks. He mentioned something like lorazimpan or something idk. I'm just really worried that I'm not going to get the help I need at the GP. He is a new doctor (I have not established myself with a GP, I have established myself with a gyno but I'm only 22 so I never really needed a GP). I am worried that he will not give me the medicine I need (or any medicine at all) due to my new patient status. The anxiety has been really debilitating and I really need help. I am seeing a counselor in tandem as well but I have uncontrollable, bad panic attacks that I really need assistance with. Any thoughts about my situation? Please help.

Thanks for your response! Due to the fact that my parents are very against psychiatry for me & I am still under their insurance plan so I have to go through a GP and pay out of pocket for the medication. I have only been in counseling for a short amount of time and I'm not sure what DBT is haha. Also, I can manage the anxiety for the most part (I'm used to the shaking and sweating since it's gone on forever) but it really is just the panic attacks when things get out of control. Also, I looked at his specialties online and he lists anxiety and depression as his specialties although he is a GP. Not sure if that information helps!

How long have you been in counseling and is your therapist using DBT?
It's hard to say how things will go with your new Dr tomorrow. Many Drs don't like to prescribe anxiety meds, they would rather you see a Psychiatrist for that. You may want to talk to him about an antidepressant though. Those meds can help both anxiety and depression.
In my opinion, the best thing for you to do is see a Psychiatrist for your therapy and possible meds. I don't know if you have insurance though and that can be a big problem. It is for many of us.
Try not to be nervous. I know, easier said than done. Just be up front and honest with your Dr about your anxiety.
