I am afraid I am losing it

Hi everyone,

I have mild Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild regurgitation. I took from may 2009 till august 2009 Bystolic (Nebivolol) 2.5 mg. After coping with all the side effects I was feeling allright. In september 2009 I switched to another beta blocker Bisoprolol (Concor) 2.5 mg. After taking it for two weeks I started experiencing a tingling sensation in my fingers, chest pressure and muscles pain. In the third week, one day after having lunch I went back to work. I didn't feel OK with my stomach, I took the stairs at work but it was like I was numb, I could hardly walk, at the same time I got tachycardia. I think I got a panic attack. It only lasted for a couple of minutes but it was very scary. I am back on my old med.

Since that day I got a set back. It was like I lost everything I archieved. I am nervious, anxious. I am even afraid to go to work and take the stairs again. I went to work today but it was very hard.

I have a few questions:
1. Is it possible to have a panic attack with tachycardia while on beta blockers?
2. What can I do to stop worrying about having another panic attack?

Please help me. I am afraid this time I am really losing it.

Thanks in advance.

Amethyst

hello there =)
Im sorry to hear what your going through
from experience nawt only from myself but from a close relative of mine
i know that yes you can have a panic attack
while on beta bs.
acually there are sum that can trigger the attacks
thats one way your body can react if its nawt used to the meds.
maybe you should let ur docter know and switch to a new one?
and as far as what you should do to stop from worrying about having anuther panic attack
try to get your self a good wordsearch book.
it keeps ur mind busy and distracts any other scary thoughts such as having an attack etc
or if your in the car try to turn on the radio and listen to ur fav song
heck sing along lol
just try to live in the present and focus on what ur currently doing and what you have to get done.
leave the negatives thoughts n worries in the past =)
keep in touch
hope this helped

I'm anxious to hear what people have to say about this because I have the exact same issues. I'm on lopressor. I think I worry that I'll go into SVT or something or that I'll be somewhere and have the tachycardia and not be ok or something crazy like that. I'm anxious about being anxious.
