ughh i hate that feeling i feel like my body is detached and its unreal and i feel like im not even there and i dont wanna move because im scared i might fall over... its definitley anxiety but its so weird im almost convinced its not...
I have those feelings at times, and I hate them. I call them "unreal" feelings. Sort of like I am the spectator watching the world and others go by. I get to feeling that way when I am really anxious, or, on the other hand, depressed, it is the pits.
Do you feel like what your seeing isn't real
Check my journals...I have written about depersonalization and derealization. They are two side effects of chronic, severe anxiety and/or depression. The bad news is, it can take some time to see an improvement, the good news is...these feelings are totally harmless. It is one of the more unsettling symptoms...I've been there, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that as your anxiety and/or depression start to improve...these symptoms just go away.
What you are describing Mike is called "depersonalization," or "derealization," and both are classic symptoms of anxiety/panic. They can be very scary events and will induce more anxiety..........the vicious cycle begins.
See your doctor for a good check-up to rule out a physical cause for these symptoms and then have a very long discussion about anxiety. Just be very aware of what, if any, meds your doctor may put you on! Educate yourself before you start popping anything! Be especially wary of Xanax. It's an excellent med for panic/anxiety, but only if used as-needed. Read on here the MANY posts from folks who have unwittingly (thanks to their GPs) gotten totally screwed from this med. There are far better options out there. I don't mean to scare you, but benzos are not something to take lightly! But, if used wisely, that and some therapy will help you deal with your anxiety/panic and likely rid you of it.
Until then, if you get "those" feelings again, stop, and if possible, go someplace quiet and take some deep breaths.......try to quiet your mind and know that it's just anxiety causing you to feel this way.
You'll be fine.......if you deal with this now.
Peace

Yeah I lot of people get that from anxiety or even the associated medication, another one is like your watching yourself from outside your body, feels wierd but remember the brain can make us feel all sorts of ways, and as I said others out there feel the same way your not alone
