Hi!
Is your condition with Lexapro improved since it's been a month?
I haven't been eating solid food for the past three months due to not able to swallow pills back in September, then led to Short of breath and gone to ER twice. After all kinds of negative results from all specialists.. I finally realized it's a panic attack I went through. Now I developed Globus Hystericus sensation that throat is tight and lump is still there....
I have no problem drinking liquids but just avoid to eat solids and lost 15 lbs. I need to conquer my fear... afraid of elevators as well as going to public rest rooms cuz feel locked in...
I read some posts about Lexapro could help with throat tightness and lump issues.. I want to try but terrified of side effects and withdrawal in the future.. There is no easy way.. any suggestions and advice given will be greatly appreciated.
I'm just wondering, you seem to be saying that you weren't suffering anxiety until you moved. This is a definite event, and if this is true, you should be seeing a therapist for talk to work this out, not taking drugs at all at this point. This is just my opinion, but as you're seeing, these drugs are not magic pills, they are difficult, and should be saved for when your life is so disrupted and other things have failed that you can't function well. You do what you feel is best, I'm just expressing an opinion. By the way, GABA is not absorbed when taken as a supplement. The natural method of treatment would have included a formula of herbs (GABA isn't an herb, it's a neurotransmitter) and amino acids to help with relaxation, serotonin regulation, and the adrenals plus lifestyle changes such as meditation, breathing exercises, talk therapy, etc.
Matty Taylor nailed it when he said it takes 4 to 8 weeks to really kick in. The first week is the worst with each week getting better. Many I know on Lexapro say that even though they were doing well after a month, they continued to improve for up to four months before peaking out (in a good way). If you are really fighting with it, call your doctor and ask for something to help with the anxiety/sleep issues until your over the hump.
I'm on Lexapro and have been for two weeks now. The first week is rough. I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now and it *****. You will have days that are better than others and you WILL have days where anxiety is increased. This will start to settle down towards two weeks like it has for me. Yesterday I felt like my normal self again, I was able to do things I enjoy. Today I woke up with more anxiety but we gotta remind ourselves this medicine takes time, sometimes 4-8 weeks to really get the full effect. But just know the increase in anxiety is perfectly normal, try and keep a level head, and take the medicine around the same time everyday. It will be a slow increase in your mood day by day! Stick with it, give it time. [:
