I know how you feel. I have GAD for 3 months now and I take meds. Im finding that GAD is not a quick fix. I have good days and bad days. And I know how you feel when you want to go out with friends and be out having fun. I also understand when family or friends say " dont worry ". Thats easier said then done. Since Ive had this I will continue doing all the things that I want to in moderation. I dont over do myself and I take it one day at a time. What helps me is talking about it. You should try to keep a journel so that you can put down all your feelings. That helps me. I try to be positive in all this and prey that I can keep going untill I get myself back. Good luck. Dont Give Up
Tom:
You will feel better, but you might have to do more than just take meds. By no means am I saying, "just get off your rump and you'll be fine". I'm just saying that meds aren't always the cure.
For me, the meds gave me enough relief to think a little more clearly which gave me time and energy to seek help through talk therapy. If nothing else, a good therapist will immediatlely give you comfort by assuring you that you A.) aren't crazy and B.) not alone.
A good therapist my very well be able to find out what is causing your GAD and give you some tips on how to attack it.
Good luck....be confident.
In my opinion, GAD is definitely 'fixable,' but not just with pills. I am a very big proponent of medications like Lexapro, but there is no magic pill that will cure this. But combined with talk therapy and understanding of why you suffer from GAD you can really start to feel some long term relief from this Gaining long term knowledge about this, you can really start to feel long term releif from this....keep us posted!
