Is weight loss common?

I've been anxious for at least the past two, maybe three months. The physical symptoms started about a month ago -- I've had tingling in my arms, legs and sometimes head, fatigue, weakness and minor headaches. I went to my doctor today and she seems to really think it's anxiety, but I'm just waiting on the blood work results. But I've also noticed some weight loss, particularly in my legs. According to the scale, I haven't lost any weight, but my legs are noticibly thinner. I've also had a very small appetite lately, so that's probably what's causing the weight loss. But is that normal with anxiety? It just seems weird that I feel thinner but the scale doesn't say I weigh any less.

I'm only expecting my symptoms to get worse as I wait for the blood work results. Luckily, my doctor put me on medication, but said things could get worse before they get better :(

When I first went on paxil i was on 12.5mg and I gained 20+ pounds. Then I went off of it a year later because of the weight gain. I am now back on it but my doctor put me on 20mg and I do not have the increase in appetite i don't know why this is, but i am very happy with it!! maybe try going up to 20?

it makes sense to lose weight, I know when i was really anxious I could NEVER eat. unless i was at home and super relaxed, so im sure i lost weight back then too.
but then i gained it back when my doctor put me on paxil. but now i am fine! i am still on paxil but ive lost the increase in appetite. i hope things work out for you!!

Yeah, i am having similar symptoms. Really, if your anxious, your nerves are getting the best of you. You will gain an appetite, slowly. The process will take a few days, maybe weeks. Mine has been gone since last Thrusday Night. You may look to yourself skinner and yes, it seems like your getting skinner, maybe you are, but nothing to worry about. You should still see a doctor. It could have nothing to do with axiety. You could have a stomich ucler. Have you ever had a eating disorder? You could be gaining one, or bringing one to present day.
