Lexapro and alcohol
Taking 5 mg of lexapro. Drank quite a bit of beer last 2 days and very anxious that something bad will happen from lexapro and alcohol interaction. Should I go to hospital?
yes I think that is the path, no alcohol. I do like beer and sometimes overdue it when old college buddies are in town. The anxiety is pretty unbearable the next day and I have the constant though of impending doom. Better to not have to experience that.
I wanted to comment on one more thing:

You will get varying advice from different doctors, but as a general rule, it's a no no to drink while on an SSRI antidepressant. For clarification purposes, ask the doctor who prescribed you the medication what he/she recommends. IN my experience, most will say that one or two drinks OCCASIONALLY is okay, but again, you need to ask the prescribing doctor, and adhere to his recommendations.
If you're not willing to be compliant and will continue to drink, then you need to ask your doctor to be taopered off the medication.

I don't think anything bad is going to happen to you, but definitely do NOT be drinking while taking this medication anymore. I'll tell you something else, alcohol (especially in excess, to the point of intoxication) will exacerbate anxiety terribly. THAT is probably why you are overly anxious, from the alcohol itself.
I was never a really big drinker (except in my early twenties, college partying stuff), but I'll tell you...I've all but given it up completely. I MAY have a few drinks at a wedding, but that's it. That's because I've learned that EVERY time I drink, the next few days, my anxiety is unbearable. It 's really not worth it! And, I don't miss it a bit.
So, my advice to you is to lay off the alcohol all together. Can you do that?
