Lexapro side effects - help!

I took one Lexapro a month ago.  Severe symptoms, couldn't eat or sleep for 4 days, terrible depression, anxiety hundreds of times worse than what I took the 10mg pill for.  Obsessing about suicide.  Doctor says side effects don't last that long.  Still having trouble sleeping, eating, I don't know if I'm going to get through this.  Does it ever go away?  Where can I go?  Who knows anything?  The drug company won't comment, they don't have any substantive contact information anywhere.  If only somebody could help me.  Thank you.

I also had bad reaction. Took 10mg for 4days, I was bouncing off the walls. Anxiety increased, and my hands were shaking. I stopped taking it, and felt better a few days later. Doc thought maybe try a different one, I said I will chance it on my own. Doc said there is a slight adjustment period, but side effects like that, you should come off immediately. Big difference between adjusting and freaking out. Hope helpful, Good Luck.

I reacted badly to lexapro too. After one 10mg pill  I got very nauseous to the point I could barely move..couldn't eat and got extremely anxious. Mine only lasted a day but medicine will do different things to different people. Have you talked to your doc about it?

I also had a terrible adverse reaction to only one 10mg of Lexapro.  It's been a month now and I'm still experienceing some symptoms, but not as bad as the first few weeks.  I've been to my doctor a number of times and she reassures me I'll be okay, and that it will just take time (possibly months) for my body and brain chemicals to go back to normal.  I know how you're feeling, and it's very scary.  I have a great family and friends who have been very supportive, which helps alot.  I've also been drinking A LOT of water to try and flush my body and taking vitamins, and fish oil pills.  I still have anxiety/panic attacks out of nowhere, that I never even had before I took the Lexapro, which is the scariest part.
So, your not alone.  Hang in there!

I should add that some people report liver cleansing helped them with protracted withdrawal.  Some have also reported help from fish oil.  But your case sounds more like an allergic reaction or something, so I don't know, but maybe your body needs help flushing whatever you're reacting to out of your system.  If you're on other medications, you can't do this, as liver cleansing can wash them out as well.

Almost nobody cares about the long-term effects of these meds.  I'm one of the most severe cases of Paxil withdrawal ever recorded, and I can't find anyone who knows anything about what to do for those of us who have anomalous effects.  This is the crapshoot we're not told about when it comes to meds, that they are only studied for short-term use and therefore there's little financial incentive for anyone to research the bad cases.  Now, I was on Paxil a long time before I tapered off, and you say you only took one pill, so it does seem very strange, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.  It can and does with all medications.  But because of this lack of requirement to prove long-term anything, there's no real way to know if the med did this to you or if your thinking did this to you.  I'd trust your instincts, but have no idea how to remedy it.  Have no idea how to remedy me, either.  But I would say that if it's only one pill one time, it would be difficult to believe your brain won't readapt and get back into balance, assuming the pill did cause this, which no one can prove or disprove.  I could direct you to google Protracted Withdrawal Syndrome, but again, after one pill, it's hard to see there would be any withdrawal.  I hope you find relief.  Keep searching, and don't let them pooh pooh you.

I think you should call your dr and discuss what is going on with you.  Especially if you are having thoughts of suicide.

Are you seeing a pscyhatrist?  If not you might want to consider seeing one.  They can help you with your anxiety and they work with meds so they will be able to figure out what works best for you.  Each person is different so each med is different for everyone.

In the meantime call your dr about the Lexapro and see what he/she says.

Good Luck....
