Luvox

I went to the pdoc yesterday.  She wants me to try luvox.  Anyone had experience with it?  Did it work?  I told her I was really worried about gaining weight on it and it making me a zombie so I hope that doesn't happen.  She said she's never seen anyone gain weight on it.  I am a runner too so that should combat any weight gain I hope.  I am very excited about something actually working for me.  I got more klonopin too for the anxiety so I can function until it works.

zombie effect has set in...anxiety is worse and I am more suicidal now...so luvox is not for me...I was so hopeful too...I see pdoc day after tomorrow...also I have no ability/desire to get off my *** and run like I usually do and when I get started I can't keep going past a couple of miles...so any other suggestions anyone?

Keep me posted.  My shrink recommended Luvox, but he messed me up so bad taking me off Paxil that I don't trust him.  I'm curious about your response.

I am glad that you are doing well with it.  Just keep in touch with your doctor and ensure you keep on asking him/her your questions and expressing your concerns.  Being proactive and in good communication can never hurt in my experience!

It may be because I am so hopeful but I think it is already working.  It hasn't made me sleepy or hungry.  She gave it to me for my OCD and depression.  And I have tried a lot of stuff and it was one I haven't tried.  I am excited for the time being.  Thanks for the replies.

Ask her why Luvox?  It isn't used often, it has a very short half life, and interacts adversely with many medications.  As for weight gain, you can gain weight on any of them.  Or not.  I was an avid basketball player, studied kung fu, and ran while on Paxil and gained 50 pounds.  You just never know.

Luvox is an SSRI.  I have been on another one and had no problems gaining weight as long as I watched what I ate and kept my diet in check.  I also run around 40-50 miles a week and actually set a PR for a 10K while I was on these types of medications.  Just remember, meds affect people in different ways, but I am a big proponent of meds like these as long as they are combined with talk therapy so you can gain long term knowledge about your anxiety.  Also, these meds take a little time to work and in my experience I did have some side effects when I started it, but they went away within a couple of weeks or so...keep us posted!
