Ativan, like Xanax, is NOT a long-term, daily-use benzo and should not be prescribed as such. It should only be used to treat anxiety (on a daily basis) for up to 4 weeks. If you are going to be taking a benzodiazepine on a daily basis for an extended period of time, I would speak with your doctor about klonopin. Ativan is more of an "as-needed" (i.e. at the onset of a severe panic attack, or before attempting an activity that is known to cause a panic attack) med.
I take klonopin daily, and I take an ativan maybe once every 1-2 weeks as needed.
MrGreen has made excellent comments (some very funny) and given you excellent advice. You should take his advice to heart......and head!
The only thing I would like to add is when you say you suffer from anxiety every day, I'm thinking the Ativan is NOT controlling your anxiety. I would strongly urge you to speak with your doctor and let him/her know that it is obviously not working......that it may be time to try something different. There are many benzos out there and not all of them work for all of us. Some times we need to try several before we find the one the works best for us.
I think I said this in our other post, but MrGreen also made mention of looking into some therapy to get to the root cause of your anxiety. Until you do that and begin to deal with the issues causing the anxiety, you will be running twice as fast to stay in the same place. And that place is not a good place. We've all been there, many are still there, but all of us CAN, with work, get out of there.
Peace

Well worded. Grade A for the english language this time round. Just kidding loved your last post. The mobile text wording. Now what sort of noises do you hear? Are these noises that are out there. Like cars and the likes. Or are the noises in your head? You see we like to practice something called distraction. Were we find that something else to do to keep the mind from thinking inwardly. Thus if we feel we are getting anxious we may put on an MP3 player or exercise to burn off the energy. Go for a bike ride or whatever. Just to keep the mind busy. Have you tried theraphy at all? It is great and it does teach you coping skills. How to handle such situations. What you can do. You and the therapist come up with a few ideas. But you also find where the anxiety is coming from. What is kicking it in. What you are thinking as it kicks in. How you react to it. Then, step by step, you try and change these things. All you really need change is one as they all go hand in hand. Not easy at all. But it is worth the fight. To have your life back.
