Concerned about rapid heartbeat and new script of Prozac. Please help.

Its been awhile since I've posted. I've been managing my anxiety really well. I've gained 6lbs since January and am back to a healthy weight and have been eating and working with no real issues. However yesterday I went to my doc for a check up and she found that I was having a very fast resting heartbeat. She seemed a little concerned and prescribed me prozac to go along with my xanax due to the fact that i am dealing with the end of a 4 year relationship which has me stressed, upset and confused. She told me to start on the prozac and she made an appt for me in 5 weeks to see if my heartbeat has returned to normal.

So 2 problems. I'm insanely nervous about my heartbeat now which im sure isnt helping the situation and im scared to start the prozac because i had a HORRIBLE experience with lexapro last year. My doc told me most people tolerate prozac pretty well which is why she prescribed it to me since the lexapro really screwed me up.

So...has anyone dealt with a rapid heartbeat due to stress and has anyone had good experiences with prozac??

Prozac has given me a foggy headed feeling at times. I am not going to give up on it though, I know it takes time.

I say yes to both.  I learned relaxation tequniques and meditation for my heartbeat. It helped me.  I love prozac.  I have had zero side effects from it.  You can tell your doctor you do not want to take it anymore if you do not like it.  I know some people do have problems with it but your doctor is correct about it being well tolerated. You might be nicely surprised.

Also..forgot to add. My doc and I tried out Klonopin to see if a longer lasting benzo would work for me. I tried for 2 weeks and had to go back to xanax. The klonopin made me feel worse. I felt tired, out of it, no motivation, mental confusion. I absolutely hated it. So i dont know if maybe that has something to do with my heartbeat. Switching my meds around. And its also another reason why im scared to try the prozac. Im so sensitive to meds and so far xanax has been the only thing that hasnt made me feel worse.
