OCD

Hello . . . I have OCD. I am a checker ~ check stove, curling iron, etc.  I have taken prozac off and on for 20 years.  This last reason I started taking prozac was because my hubby was going to Iraq and I started my checking and worrying about him.  He is back now and I have weened myself off again of prozac and I have this awful headache that wont go away.  I have had the headache for 4 days now.  I have weened myself off plenty of times and never felt like this.  I have just celebrated a birthday and have decided to run a 5K, eat healthy, exercise, stop drinking caffeine, and be off all meds.  Is this possible with OCD?

Thank you for your response.  Your friend sounds like me . . . That makes me happy knowing he can do everything without meds.  That is my goal!!  I am soooo excited about starting to train for a 5K.  Tomorrow morning (headache and all) I will be on the treadmill training.  I will also give the doctor a call.  Thank You Again!!  :o)

Give your doctor a quick call and make sure the headache is from stopping the Prozac.  Then...YES, you can do all of these things and I think it will make you feel better!  I have a friend who has it badly and he does it all and he said it makes him feel better, and he doesn't take any medication.  One thing that helped him was the first time he wanted to go back and make sure he had locked the doo.....he thought "no, I'm not going back" and after a few times of doing this it was one thing he could check off his list.  He used to stand in front of his stove at night and look at each knob saying "off...off..off..over and over.  Now he looks at the knobs and says  "off" and is done.  Take baby steps to help ease some of your OCD and set your mind on accomplishing all you want to achieve.  I wish you all the very best, I love to see someone set a goal and go for it!!!
