Off a paxil generic with withdrawl symtoms questions

I got the brain zaps yesterday thought it was muscle tension silly me. Today they continued along with increased nausua and headaches. When my toungue started to go numb then I really worried. My doctor told me to take extra klonopin (an antianxiety). I was told it would help relive the symptoms so far no luck. Will this actially help? I have been on the medication for 6 months at 20 mg. The weird senses r strange and i was told this would last at least another week why would they even prescribe this medication? I should hav know when it gave me hives the first time I tried taking it and the doctor still had me take it again. Is it usual for the zaps to start at your eyes and travel to the top of your mouth and tongue? Also is it usual for the nausua and headache in the front of your forhead to get worse when you try to lay down?

I dont know how he knows how long unless he has had this with multiple patients and is still prescribing it as a first measure 4 some reason. But I was told that it would be another week.

Well my klonopin actually knocked me out and i am feeling somewhat beeter with less often brain zaps now the nausua is back tho. I did tamper off with 10 mg for a week. One of my family members did see some mood swings in me but I didnt notice or just equated them to other female things. I relize now tho that I am not close to that so guess I have some emotional things. I read the word seizures and freaked out entirely. How is St. John's Wort helps?

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting of the Paxill. I'm currently taking it and I'm hoping to get off it soon because of the sexual side effects. That was actually some pretty good advise about the fish oil though. I might even take that under consideration when my time comes. Good Luck!

Did you taper off or quit cold turkey?  And how does your doc know how long it'll last?  It's different for everyone.  So far, your symptoms are actually pretty tame for Paxil, so I think you'll be fine.  This is referred to as the Paxil flu, but if it starts to get emotional, then go back on it and taper off more slowly.  Many people have reported that hefty doses of fish oil help with the brain zaps, extra magnesium citrate can help with the muscle stuff, and some people get relief from St. John's Wort.  And it takes as long as it takes, so relax with it, don't rush it.  If your doc didn't taper you off and didn't warn you what to report, get a different psychiatrist.
