Thanks for all the advice everyone I am on medication for my anaemia and it's so reassuring to know I'm not the only one going through this I'm going to see a counsellor tomorrow an will let you all know how I get on xx
You sound exactly like me when my anxiety started. I felt like I had something seriously wrong and that I was going to die. I was also scared to fall asleep because I thought I wouldn't wake up...so much so that for an entire week I only slept maybe 3 hours, which didn't help things. The feeling like you're in a dream is normal for anxiey too, I had that really bad. It's like you're completely disconnected from everything and I know how scary it feels. It's all anxiety, I promise. Anxiety can't hurt you, it's just uncomfortable. You need to get to your doctor and see if perhaps you need to be put on medication. I also go to a therapist, and I think that's extremely helpful. It's not for everyone, but it has worked really well for me. Hang in there, things will get better and you'll feel normal again.
Hi Sammie! Anxiety has so many symptoms it's hard not to associate them with a serious disease. However, at 18, your chances are pretty slim. I have health anxiety where if I have any symptoms or I don't feel right I assume the worst as well. There are fast acting medications for anxiety disorders. They can be highly addictive though so its important to use only as needed! I truly hope you learn how to fight anxiety . It tends to try to control us.
Hi.......it's often very difficult for us to accept that our symptoms are caused by anxiety because they are so real and can be confused with other physical problems. Seeing your doctor and having other causes ruled out is the first thing you want to do, and you've done this. Anemia is causing a lot of your problems, and I'm sure your worry has heightened your anxiety creating more symptoms. Did your doctor put you on a supplement for your anemia? Did he suggest anything for your anxiety? Therapy helps and you may need a medication to help with your anxiety until your anemia improves and a lot of your symptoms go away. I know it's hard not to worry, but you're so young and have so much living to look forward to, I hope you can work on not obcessing about this. Obcessing about something like this is very common with anxiety and we just stay focused on it which only creates more anxiety and symptoms. Talk to your doctor about getting something for your anxiety, this along with your anemia improving and you being busy with college....I think these thoughts will leave your head. Most of us have been through this so know you're not alone and we're always here for you. Call your doctor and ask what can be done to help with your anxiety, and let him know how it's affecting your life. If he doesn't help, make an appt. with a psychiatrist because they are the most knowledgeable when it comes to medications used for this and will know how best to help you. You're okay sweetie, just remind yourself that the anxiety is messing with you and you are fine! Best wishes!
