but I do not think we ever are 100% better, I think we will have break outs for the rest our lives, it just helps to know how to deal with it. .
BINGO! I can tell you that this is absolutely true. You'll go through ups and downs through the years. We're never really FREE from anxiety and panic...but we definitely can get it to a manageable level where we're at least functional most days. I can tell you too, that I have personally found (and heard the same thing from others)...that with age, the anxiety improves. At 40, I'm FAR less anxious overall than I was at 20 or 30. So, aging stinks, but that's one thing to look forward to.
Take care sweetie...you're a smart cookie...you got this.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! You are a blessing, thank you!
It sure does, thank you! I've also been having trouble with an Ovarian Cysts that acts up (I have an IUD so I do not ovulate often but when I do, it can be very painful). That was acting up this morning too so maybe it was a combo. Of course being a health anxiety freak, I think its my heart LOL silly to even say it. But to be honest all I wanted to do was come home, and lay down (knowing it would pass by time I woke up),
*sigh* its nice making improvements with panic / anxiety / healthy anxiety and not having to live with it everyday but I do not think we ever are 100% better, I think we will have break outs for the rest our lives, it just helps to know how to deal with it.
I forgot to mention, the symptoms of hypoglycemia and panic ARE very similar, however, with hypoglycemia, there is a MARKED improvement with the ingestion of glucose, whereas, with panic...the feelings would linger more...if that helps at all.
My mother has it alot and my father was diabetic, I typically may have a short burst once every few months, where I will have to eat something sugary and drink an OJ then I feel myself within 10 - 20 mins and all is well. So I grabbed some pretzels and a sprite when I felt it but it still felt a bit different. I've had my fasting Sugar checked (I get it checked every year at my annual physical) and so far so good?
it was so weird and I am not sure if the panic came on because of the weird feelings or what.
I hear ya! It's VERY hard to sort out what is anxiety related....what is an anxious reaction, etc. Makes it tough. Do you have FRQUENT problems with hypoglycemia, or was your history just an isolated incident?
PS also having health anxiety makes it worse because even when I felt better, I would think of it and BAM hit me again lol.... such a vicious cycle.
Thank you and I may just call the doc, it was so weird and I am not sure if the panic came on because of the weird feelings or what. But you know how that goes, once the panic / anxiety start, it takes a bit to talk yourself back down. I did take a low dose of Xanax and it did help but it didn't make it go away totally. That may also be because when my panic hits, it hits hard and very strong and lasts quite sometime.
So nice to hear from you as always Nursegirl, such a pleasure to have you around!
Panic attacks and anxiety can change the way it presents from time to time. I always experienced my panic attacks the same way for a long time, and as I got older, the 2nd time I had an exacerbation of panic...the attcks were very different from the first go-round.
Plus, you have to take into consideration that perhaps you have a viral infection, or are coming down with something. It's so hard to tell, because we're so quick to automatically attribute every foreign sensation to anxiety and panic. Your symptoms may have been anxiety related, and they may have been related to something else. A good way to sort it out (usually) is...if taking your Xanax makes the symptoms improve, it 's probably anxiety related.
If you remain concerned, or the symptoms persist, it never hurts to have a once-over by your doc...make sure you are physically okay.
Hang in there hon!

I think that's very telling. If the symptoms lingered, which it seems they did...you can probably chalk it up to panic. Do you have a glucose meter at home? If so...if you get those kinds of symptoms, you can always spot check it. BE CAUTIOUS however....with your history of health anxiety...you may go overboard and start checking it too much. You'd have to really be disciplined about it.
Before you know it...you'd have more holes than swiss cheese! ;0)
