Hey Jim im also a 35yr old male and can tell you I been dealing with panic disorder since I was 19. That heart issue you talk about was my main issue along with bp. I always was in fear off a heart attack and I developed white coat syndrome because of my gear off high bp. It wasn't until I started taking Ativan or the generic lorazapem that I finally felt free of racing heart , flutters, and just overall feeling that something was wrong with my heart. I obsessed with my heart counting my heart beats daily and with this pill which is like Xanax , same category that I was able to stay relaxed all day and I tell you now I am totally anxiety free. I went from having multiple panics daily to none. I been taking lorazapem for almost two years along with Paxil that I've been taking for 16yrs.  I don't know how long you been taking the Xanax but give it time. And as far as your SSRI I tried over the years of weaning off and was able to stay off for 6mnths. But when you have severe panic it's best not to stop them because they always seem to come back. So I decided staying on the and that has worked well for me.  Good luck my friend in this anxiety journey we live with.

Hi Everyone,

Please remember that any increase or decrease in a medication dosage should only be done under the guidance of a medical professional.

Jim_35, we suggest that you contact your physician and inform him/her of the problems you are experiencing.  If available, you might seek a second opinion as well.

Best Wishes!

Steph

Obviously you're suffering either from too low a dose of a drug that was working, which makes your doc stupid, or you're suffering withdrawal from cutting the dose too quickly, which also makes your doc stupid since now you've gone from one drug that worked to two that don't.  Why not just go back up to the higher dose and see if that solves your problem?

Can I ask why your dose was decreased? Are ou trying to get off of this med? Sorry for the questions. I'm trying to understand why the dose decrease. It sounds like you may be having some break through anxiety because of the decrease. Hopefully this will get better as your body adjusts to the new dose.
