Fed up Of Xanax

Taking xanax 4 times daily at.25 mg.  Dr wants me to start to take it 3 times daily.  That means to me taking it every 8 hrs. from taking it every 6 hrs. Do you think i will have any withdrawal with the 2 hr difference.  Ive been taking it since Jan.3 2009 and worried about being addicted.  Who would be better to advise Pshchicatrist or a reg dr.  Regular dr prescribed it in the first place 3 times daily and he increased it to 4 times and I know now i should of only been taking it as need .

Tell your Doc to switch you to a long lasting benzodiazapine like Klonopin, or Valium.
After 2 weeks it will build up in your system, and work the best, but even in the current time you take it, it will do the same effect as the Xanax but better

Your Xanax dosing is absolutely irresponsible of your Doctor, and he should know not to prescribe it like that.
Xanax and other short acting benzos are only meant for a "occasional" attack.
If your taking it 4 times a day, then yes I see a problem either happening now, or in the near future.
If your Doc doesnt agree with a switch over, find a new one that knows how to prescribe right.

It seems like a small dose "1mg total" but that 1mg equals out to 20 mgs valium.
So its not so small.
definently for your own sanity change over to the proper benzodiazapine.

wow four times a day seems like a lot. i don't think you will have any wds if you switch to every 8 hrs. the only thing i can see, is if you are addicted your mental addiction might attack u a little but it should not be to bad. i would talk to your doctor first then he will refer you to a pshchicatrist, and he could get you a appointment much faster.  good luck....
