Quick Question

If i have a specific anxiety, not generalized...but have a lot of stress in my life can i get anxiety attacks about my specific anxiety even though i dont need to?
I guess that is a really confusing question the way I phrased it.  I have a really REALLY severe phobia of throwing up.  Tomorrow (monday) I have a huuuuge presentation I need to do infront of everyone at school and I have to talk for 45 minutes straight or else I cant graduate with my class in 2 weeks.  As Im sitting here practicing...I am terrified that im going to throw up...
So...even though I dont feel like my anxiety is coming from the anticipation of my presentation, could it be and I just am getting it through the way I fear throwing up?

I know this is a little confusing...but if anyone could answer to just put my mind at ease a little any response would be much appriciated

Wow!
This was amazing and Thank You for letting us know!
I'm so glad that it worked out for you.
Are you perhaps journaling this? Journaling has  been a intresting tool to achieving better emotional and mental health, and certainly this event is very worthy of an entry, as it verifies the  progress you made, by overcoming this "hurdle" with great success.

Thanks for your insight! I will look up those alternative tequniques.
I presented and Talked for 55 minutes--which is 10 minutes more than the minimum. So I passed and am able to graduate!
Again, thank you all for your support

Hey jcook144.

You are actually-contrary to what you believe- quite good by being able to pinpoint the nature of your issue and communicate it.
Good suggestions, however, I hope the forum people will overlook this (my suggestion),
as they did with a previous one here (natural and holistic suggestions should be at the alternative therapies)
***Look up tapping or EFT (emotional freedom techniques),
download the basic manual-free- and go straight to the application of the basic techniques. It will take you just minutes.
You may repeat as many times as you need. A whole round of tappings
(at specified accupressure points ) will take only a minute to do.
Very straight forward, simple and fast.
**Also Rescue - a Bach Flower remedy- works very fast for most emotionally distressing situations, 3-4 drops under the tongue. Follow the instuctions on the label.
Non-prescription, available at most Health Food Stores and select Pharmacies.
***Look up Pranayama Yoga Breathing. Very soothing, easy to do and with great healing potential. Check out the online videos
***And don't forget to ask your Spirit Guides for help. They will be there for you!
Your Archangel is Gabriel. He's always around!!
"I am here and I shall not leave you...until you have fulfilled your reason for being." ~Archangel Gabriel    His name means "God Is my Strength"
Many Blessings ( and you will be fine tomorrow!!)

There are some very good anti-nausea that actually have a calming effect.  I found compazine to be the best for me.  It really helped when I was losing a lot of weight due to anxiety.

Thanks for your response!
Those were very helpful hints I will definitly follow! Anything that will help me at this point. I think the thing that freaks me out the most is that if I dont talk for 45 minutes I cannot graduate with my class in 2 weeks!
My #1 symptom I get with anxiety is nausia...which is very common, but for me it just plain stinks since i have emetophobia.  So although I get anxiety for another reason, since the nausia kicks in I then obbsess over the thought if im gonna throw up or not. I should look into nausia medications.
Again, thank you so much for your response...it means a lot!

I must admit your opening sentence left me totally baffled. I'm glad you clarified it!  :)

Emetephobia is a very dibilitating disorder and I hope you are receiving therapy for it. But.......we need to work on tomorrow for right now.
A couple of the best things I learned from a public speaking class I took in college was that it really helps to admit to the audience right off the bat that your nervous. If you can make a small joke at this point would be great. Something like......."I'm so nervous right now I hope there's a doctor in the house!" (Maybe you can come up with a better one. That's the one I always used and it got a lot of laughs) I think this is a good tatic because just about everyone in the audience is going to be able to relate to your fear. They are just relieved it's YOU and not THEM at that podium! Another really good thing I learned to help feel less nervous is to know your material inside out and upside down. Have really excellent notes that are easy for you to follow. Try really hard not to rush your speech, if you notice that you are, take a sip of the lemon water you will hopefully have on your podium. Lemon water will help a dry mouth better than plain water, which is a trick of many great orators and actors. The few seconds that it's takes to sip some water should be long enough for you to say to yourself "slow the bus down!"
Wear something you feel good in. It will keep you from tugging or pulling at a new article of clothing that is irritating and therefore distracting. Go ahead and have some little talisman on the podium. A picture of your boyfriend, your family, or maybe just a picture of mountains or the ocean..........something that you find calming. If there is any way possible, have some friends or family in the first few rows that you can focus on for support.
I don't know if it would be good to eat a light meal before your presentation. Perhaps that would be the worst thing for you..........I don't know. Is there some kind of medication you can take to calm your stomach?
Accept that you're going to be nervous and try as hard as you can to not think about throwing up. Which I can only imagine must be next to impossible, but do your best to distract yourself from these thoughts if they begin to intrude.
It's only 45 minutes and YOU CAN DO IT!
You will NOT throw up and I bet you get a standing ovation!
Now, get out there and wow them with your speech!
Peace
