Results Never Provide Comfort

Hi, I am a 23 year old male that has been suffering from anxiety/depression for a solid year and a half now. I recently received results from my MRI which stated that it looked completely normal except for some sinus congestion. The reason for my MRI is that I was convinced that I had MS, ALS, or an intracranial mass that was constantly causing me to become dizzy and experience severe episodes of derealization where it would become very difficult to walk, talk, or coordinate fine movements. I have had tingling in my limbs for quite a while although they have gotten better over the past few months. In addition, I have experienced pain behind my eyes (maybe can attribute that to sinusitis), severe neck and back pain, constant fatigue, loose stool, shooting pains in my head with throbbing headaches and even speech difficulties occasionally as if my mouth were stiffening up. My primary concerns remain the sharp headaches and the dizzy feeling that I always seem to have everyday. I was wondering how many people experience constant dizziness with an awkward feeling of unbalance and spatial disorientation due to "anxiety". My primary doctor by now thinks I am somewhat hypchondratic and I can't blame him but I cant help but over analyze my present condition and wonder if its something they have missed. It also does not help that I have a very strong science background which indirectly encourages the thought that my symptoms are physiologically based causing psychological ones and not the other way around (psychosomatic). Ok getting long I know. Thanks to anyone with any advice. Appreciate it!

The dizziness and headaches after you were on the Celexa might have been side effects...how long did you take the meds?  You have to give them some time to get past the side effects to see if they help.  I am actually on Celexa right now too and I am having the dizziness and headaches (and had them before I started the med).

I was also on zoloft for years and it really helped a lot only problem was I gained a lot of weight so I stopped taking it.

I know what you mean when you say your doctor thinks your a hypchondratic.  It is because those of us with anxiety just cant believe that the symtoms are our anxiety alone and figure it must be some illness causing it.  That is why I said you might need to get on a med and stay on it for a little while to see if it helps and that way you will be able to convince yourself it is just anxiety.

I am currently having all the symptoms you listed.  I have also had MRI's, CT Scan's, X-rays, blood work...and guess what???  Nothing is wrong...however I still dont believe it...LOL  I am hoping once this celexa kicks in I will stop all of this mess.  I go to the doctor at least twice a week because I am convinced there is something really wrong with me.  I just try to remind myself everyday that I will get through this.

If you need to talk to someone just send me a message and I will be happy to talk.  I am on here a lot during the day and night.  (I am not a expert though...sorry!  But I have had anxiety for along time as well)

Some of this may be coming from anxiety disorder but get the sinusitis treated as that can cause a lot of unpleasent symptoms and ones that are treatable and will clear up with antibiotics.

Hi,

I've suffered from panic and anxiety for little over a year now but have been able to control the panic.  What I have problems with now are the physical symptoms and ailments.  I went to the doctor a month ago because of dizziness and dry mouth.  The result was from being congested.  I was congested on one side which was causing my equilibrium (I think that's how you spell it) to be off.  I would get dizzy which would set me in panic mode, hence the dry mouth.  Even as we speak I just had a sharp pain on my left side of my chest.  It's crazy what we go through I know.  Sometimes I wish I can marry a doctor so he can always be there to check my symptoms, lol!   You know what, we're okay and we just have to keep reminding ourselves that we are in control and not our mind.  The mind can play a very strong role, but remember we are in control of that as well.

No, i was on Celexa for a while but it didnt seem to do that much for me. I was then put on wellbutrin for a bit but then eventually weened myself off that. I will probably be going back to my psychiatrist soon to see how much it would help to get back on some meds. However even when I was taking the meds and felt emotionally better, I still did have some issues with dizziness and headaches. Thanks.
