Scared. Rabies.

My cat was foaming/spitting out white from the  mouth about 6 weeks ago (he's not vaccinated, indoor cat and it just kinda went away and he never did it again) is there a chance my cat has rabies? I have horrible anxiety and I was reading symptoms on rabies and they started to really scare me. I was just in the hospital a month ago because my heart rate hit 190 bpm. They said it was from my lung infection and anxiety, but ever since My anxiety and freak outs get so much worse. My cats still alive though, he's eating and is either sleeping or playful. I just hope I don't have rabies. Any help? Sometimes I feel like I'm acting funny, but I can't tell if that's because I'm looking for symptoms and having an anxiety attack. I get really bad headaches (but that can also be from anxiety) I just need to know if my cat had rabies if he would be dead by now or how this would work. I'm really scared.

I'm on Ativan for anxiety, but I still have a bad feeling about the rabies part. My cat kinda sneezes a lot, but no foaming out of the mouth or anything. I feel like I'm freaking myself out more and more each day though. Trying to see if I can find symptoms in myself from it! It's scaring me horribly!

If you saw those symptoms in your cat 6 weeks ago, yes, the cat would either be VERY OBVIOUSLY ill or dead.  Rabies progresses fairly fast. The symptoms are almost always VERY apparent.  It wouldn't be something you would be wondering about.  An indoor cat would be at extremely low risk to begin with.  Just my personal opinion, but from what you posted, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Obviously, this irrational fear has grabbed hold of you.  Do you have any kind of anxiety disorder or OCD?  That's the kind of thinking process/worry you would expect to see in those kinds of conditions.

I would really encourage you to seek professional help for this anxiety if you haven't already (AND get your cat vaccinated for rabies if applicable, it will put your mind more at ease, plus, if it's standard, then it should be done anyway).

Hang in there.
