Shaking

I am under tremendous stress and every close to losing my home.  I am a 68 year old woman and had to be put on blood pressure medication about 4 days ago, which has helped lower my BP.  I also take the following meds: Prozac  40mg, Lovastatin 40mg. and xanax 0.5mg (when needed) but now I am taking more often because of how anxious I feel. I do my best to try & control my feelings, but I have been in this condition going on 3 months.  Are there any stress relieving methods I can try?

I completely agree.  Dealing with the possible loss of your home is a very anxiety-producing situation for anyone!  I'm sorry that your anxiety feels out of control right now.  Meditation helps me a lot.  If you look at some of my previous replies to posts you'll see that I was very skeptical of meditation but it has, in fact, helped me tremendously.  I prefer mindful meditation by Jon Kabat-Zinn.  He's got some great youtube videos.  In any case, please know you are not alone and that this is a wonderful community of people who are here to support you!  God Bless, Jen

I am sorry you are going through this right now.  In my opinion, this would stress anyone out.  I agree that so many things can help stress and anxiety (i.e, medication changes, exercise, meditation, etc).  Since this has been going on for months have you considered any form of counseling?  I know I seem to preach this, but for my long term anxiety group or individual counseling has worked very well for me.  First, it makes me realize that my I am not alone in my experiences with this and second, it enables me to confront, learn and deal with the anxiety in a constructive way....please keep us posted!

How long have you been on the Prozac, it may not be working for you anymore.  I would talk to your doctor about this, he will know if you need any medication dosage changes, or a complete change of medication.  Deep breathing exercises are good... slowly breath in thru you nose and slowly out of your mouth several times.  Exercise is good, even if you just walk.  I'm 61 and walk 6 miles a day which helps me immensely.  But you don't need to walk far, just walk.  Find a hobby that keeps your mind occupied, read, just do things that interest you.  Do things that allow you to meet others your age, senior center, church, etc.  Staying connected with friends and family helps a lot, don't isolate yourself. I'm so sorry you are going thru this, it's very scary, and I hope things turn around for you.  I wish you all the best!
