More than anxiety?

I was diagnosed with a Random Panic Disorder back in 2006 a few months after I had my daughter. I am no stranger to anxiety. I've been on Lorazepam 1mg for 10 years now. I also dabbled with two different SSRI's more recently, which I didn't like and no longer take. I take the Lorazepam as needed, which lately has been one to two a day. My anxiety comes from the same thing, a fear that their is something wrong with me medically. Obviously after 10 years, you think I would realize I am okay and the anxiety would disappear, but no. That's not how it works for me. I had my second child Novemeber 2015. Since December I have had some symptoms that are not "cured" with my anxiety meds. I saw my primary care physician and did labs, but all were normal. The only other med I currently take is Synthroid for Hypothyroidism. I went black again in March with the same symptoms. I had an MRI, but it was normal. I saw my eye doctor who referred me to a Adult Strabismum specialist and it turns out I need eye muscle surgery. The fact that I have Strabismum still does not account for my symptoms. I went back to my PCP, who referred me to a neurologist, which I don't see till next week. I ended up at Urgent Care today because my symptoms were so bad.

Symptoms are as follows:

Constant heavy headedness
Head pressure (feels like it's going to explode)
Pressure in ears/Burning ears (intermittent)
Sensitive to loud sounds (right ear mostly)
Sudden off balance feeling
Sudden head jerk feeling
Feels like my head is going to fall forward
Light headedness/Dizziness
Shoulder/neck pain
Heavy limbs (legs-intermittent)
Clenching teeth
Strabismus
Hard to focus
Constantly tired
Constantly squinting eyes
Eye twitch
Hard to keep eyes open
Stomach issues- bloating, feels like I can't relax my stomach, twitching muscles (lower left side)
Extremely difficult to concentrate or work
Tightness in chest (that's probably anxiety)
Feels difficult to swallow (that too)

Sleeping Problems

When I'm trying to fall asleep, my head gets sudden full feeling/balloon like, chest clenches, and my extremities go numb and I have to jerk awake and sit up. I feel like I can't breath.

This doesn't sound like your typical anxiety to me. I am hoping the neurologist will have more answers and I'm praying that maybe this all does have to do with my strabismus and the surgery will cure it all!

Anyone have the following symptoms and found a diagnosis?

You and I have some things in common. I struggled with anxiety for several years after having an out of the blue and very intense panic episode. I didn’t know what the heck it was until I self-diagnosed two weeks later with help from Web MD. It all caused me to develop panic/anxiety disorder. I’m maybe 95% cured. I learned a lot along the way.

Like you, I took Ativan/Lorazepam as needed. Thankfully, it is very rare that I need it anymore. I’ve also tried a couple of different SSRI’s – exactly one pill of each. Zoloft made me more anxious, and the second one (don’t remember what it was) gave me diarrhea.

I know from personal experience that anxiety can cause all kinds of physical symptoms, so it’s easy to become convinced that you have a disease of some kind – heart issues, a neurological disorder, a brain tumor, etc. Based on the fact that most of your tests have come back negative, and the fact that ten years later you’re still here, your symptoms are probably caused by nothing more than anxiety.

Here’s how I conquered anxiety, and how you can too.

After ten years, you must be thoroughly tired of dealing with the fears, panic episodes, trips to the doctor/ER, symptoms, etc. that anxiety is causing you. So get it over with. Stop fighting your anxiety. Instead, allow it to have its way with you. Whatever you fear will happen, just let it happen. Let anxiety kill you, embarrass you, whatever it is you are worried about most. Basically, call anxiety’s bluff. Just let it do to you whatever it’s going to do. What you will discover is that anxiety is a poser. It has no power over you other than what you are allowing it to have. Anxiety is self-imposed. Once you realize this – and I mean REALLY realize it – you will be well on the road to recovery.

I wish you well!
