I'm a visitor to this forum too.  Agree, maybe the withdrawal may be easier if the docs compromise with you and start 1 X .25 on day 1 then see the result.  Next day, 2 pills of .25 and then each day go up.  As long as she's well-nourished and not dehydrated the pills shouldn't hit her any harder than before.  Wish you both well----GG

Hi, margy, welcome to my world.  Is she on anti-seizure medication?  I mean, you can't just take someone off xanax, and if she's been on it that long, it isn't making her sedated anymore, assuming it ever did.  That's a fair amount of xanax, and it's an addictive drug, so any abrupt cessation will cause potential problems.  Talk to her doctors about this, and if they don't understand, get a psychopharmocologist involved.

I am a visitor to this froum and saw your post..if she was on Xanax and they have taken her off it suddenly she is having withdrawal, and that can be very nasty please get her to see someone as she will need some med to get her through the sudden with drawal it is not in her mind. Ignore them saying NO she is in withdrawal trust me.ask another Doctor or her prescribing Doctor for help.
