Test Anxiety....

Well tomorrow we have you Taks Math test ( I suck at math ) and for some reason Im not worried about it... I guess thats a good thing? Im just a little shook up that I wont pass it because like I said im not really good at math because this test tells me if I go to the 9th grade or not.... I think its stupid putting presser on us kids about this stupid stupid test... A girl had her first attack today because thats all they talked about... I felt really bad for her because I know what she was going thru so I kinda helped her thru it and gave her some copping skills to use tomorrow that really work for me... Anyways so Math taks is 4/6/10 and reading is 4/7/10 back 2 back testing... so wish me luck everyone : ) and have a blessed day... Oh and if you have any tips... do tell lol....

I used to treat tests like a film. It was a script I had to learn. I know maths is different. But any other subject. I would just learn the full whack of what we were teated on. Knew the whole chapters word for word. Would upset me not to get a score in high 90s. I would even challenge the teachers about docking points. That was my way of learning though. Just read everything we knew the test was on. Like a script. I had to know every word. Got me by well enough. But you sound like a smart girl. I best you passed the test with flying colours.

I know this isn't going to be a magic solution, but I always liked tests.  It was finally my chance to speak instead of listening to the idiot teachers all the time (or napping).  I only had a problem with one test in my life regarding anxiety, and that was one for some reason I put a lot of emotional baggage on.  Otherwise, they were fun, like doing crossword puzzles or playing a video game.  Of course, I did my studying, so I was prepared ahead of time, and took copious notes to imprint the stuff in my head, but the main point is, test taking is kind of fun when you remove the consequences from it, and there's no point thinking about the consequences.  Easy to say, but maybe it'll help next time.

Yes I agree... I hate these stupid test's what really scares the kids is if you dont pass there is a possibility you can not go on 2 the next grade which really scares us I mean who wants 2 be held back and all your friends go on 2 the next grade... I mean I SUCK at math.... I go home and study everynight and my teacher does not believe me... this school is just bad! they lose kids papers... they have lost mine so many times and of course they say no we didnt so it makes our grade drop... but anyways the test is OVER! It was pretty easy some things i didnt clearly understand so i did my best I was the last one done... : ) lol today we had reading thats easy for me I have had commended for 2 years lol... so I hope I pass both lol...

Perhaps you and this girl, who you were so kind to try and help, could get together and study for the test?
As MrGreen said, we can only do the best we can, and that is very true, but please don't just assume you're going to fail. You probably know a great deal more than you think you do. Just give it your best effort and pass or fail, you will have that to be proud of.
We all wish you the best of luck!
Peace

Just do what you can do. It impossible to do better than our very best. Obvious words really. But you know what you know. That is simply all you can put on paper. So you are right not to worry about it. But I do agree that exam times can be like cooking pots for young people. And some boil over big time. I have read some shocking stories over the years of kids doing various things because of exams. It is like they have an expectation level they feel they must reach. Any parent should sit a kid down and simply say ' just do your best, that is all we can ask '. You never know. You may do better than you think. Good luck to you with the exam.
