Throwing this out there. (LIPITOR)

Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabdamolysis<sp? That spelling isn't even close. I was very scared before I realized what was causing this severe problem.. Now I know that lipitor has helped a lot of people, it brought my cholesterol down a bunch very quickly. Frankly, I would rather have high cholesterol. I did have a stroke at the end of November, small, deep in the cerebellum. Hence the lipitor....ike

I took Zocor a few years ago, and recently started taking Lipitor. With both meds, I went through a brief period of muscle pain (a few days maybe). With the Lipitor it was in the back of my upper legs. It went away and hasn't been an issue since. Be sure to let your doctor know what your experiencing, and consider asking about the possibility of a reduced dose.

Statins have many negative effects that most people and doctors don't know about and don't take seriously.  Because cholesterol is necessary to health and to production of hormones and absorption and movement of fat soluble nutrients cutting it with a drug will have some beneficial consequences if cutting cholesterol is necessary (which it is much less often than the drug is given to people) but also negative consequences.  Statins are also highly liver toxic.  They should only be taken when absolutely necessary.  What you might investigate is whether your liver function is at all compromised, and you might try supplementing with CoQ 10, essential for the production of energy and protecting the heart muscle; statins can interfere with its absorption, as it's a fat soluble nutrient, and is as important if not more so to protecting the heart as statins might be.  You might also try supplementing with magnesium citrate -- many medications interfere with magnesium channels, including antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs.  It might help.  Good luck.
